Spring Training: The Pirates again!

This will already be the third matchup against Pittsburgh this spring ("I'm not going back to Pittsburgh!" (7:00 mark)).

CC goes for the Yanks while some guy named Charlie Morton starts for Pitt.

The game will air on YES at 1:05.

Update by jscape:

This made me laugh, via LoHud:

For all you Edwar Ramirez fans out there: The Yankees just announced they’ve traded him to the Rangers for the immortal "cash considerations." Ramirez was designated when Chan Ho Park was put on the roster.

If you consider that money will basically be used to offset Chan Ho Park's salary, it means that the Rangers are still paying for CHP.

  • Postgame notes -

CC was awful in the first, great in the second, bad in the third (2.1 ip, 5 er, 7 h, 1 bb, 2 k). No worries though; CC's second ST start last year was nearly identical.

Romulo Sanchez is becoming a dark horse for the bullpen with his dazzling velocity. He gave up a hit and a walk in 1.1 innings with two K's (and sat 94-97 MPH).

NJ cracked two solo-homers and Grandy broke his Ofer-spring by shooting a triple to the right-center gap.

Career minor-leaguer Jon Weber hit two doubles while Posada had two singles.

Charlie Morton is pitching! I'm psyched! Who is "CC?"

If we could play the Pirates every other game during the regular season, that would be okay also. I like them as our minor league affiliate the way Kansas City was in the 50s. I can keep tabs on Russ Ohlendorf and Jeff Karstens, not to mention pounding the snot out of them.

Ummmm

5 runs in the top of the 1st? Nice CC…

Oh wait, that’s 5 hits, ONLY 4 runs

If Spring training is any indication of the season..we're in trouble.

Good thing its usually not.

So yesterday you jumped out of the window

and today you drank a glass of milk?

Why all of these actions Bradshaw? What happened to the good old days when you screamed Fire Girardi and referenced your bowel movements?

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.

Its Spring Training. Trying some new things out.

Of note:

1) Jumping out a window hurts. But for a split second its quite a thrill!
2) Milk is good, especially cold. Rumor has it cookies, when dunked in there…are orgasmic.

What next! Tune in for our next meaningless ST game to which Doomsday will be upon us.

CC was pretty mediocre until his 3rd or 4th start last year

Guess it takes a while to get all 300lbs moving in the right direction. I’m ok with 19 wins though.

Nick Johnson has 2 homeruns.

Granted, they’re off my new hero, Morton Charles, but they still count for exhibition Hall of Fame stats. Can we close the “Johnson has already started” post now, please?

CC and Abaledejo are both designated for assignment. Ace Aceves is now our ace. (We should have known, he has “ace” right in his name). Mitre, Gaudin, Igawa, and Chan Ho Park now round out my starting rotation.

Dejo needs to go, his career in PS may be coming to an end. Aceves looks to be the leading candidate for the 5th starter spot. That is, if Girardi is true to his word about the position being open and not already having his mind made up between either Joba or Hughes.

Good luck Edwar

I hope the Rangers give you a better shot than the Yankees did. Because any way you slice it, I don’t think the Yanks were fair to the guy. They basically wrote him off after one months struggles in April of last year. That isn’t fair. And yet, they’re holding on to Albaladejo and Igawa. I’d rather have Edwar than both those guys.

I'm glad Edwar was traded for cash, because Lord knows, the Yankees need cash.

Edwar got two chances last year, they brought him back mid- summer and he was “meh.” (Not the bad ‘meh,’ the so-so ‘meh.’). But still, I don’t see someone who has been around as long as he has suddenly becoming ‘the man.’

“Cash’ considerations”.

Meaning Cashman can get whatever he wants from Texas

Let’s start with Neftali Feliz, and maybe a little bit of Josh Hamilton.
