Dr. Marc Philippon, the team-authorized doctor who performed hip surgery on Rodriguez last March, said he never gave approval for Galea to treat the third baseman following the surgery.
Philippon said that if Galea gave Rodriguez oral anti-inflammatory medicine than he has no problem. If Galea gave Rodriguez any injections, however, Philippon said he would be upset because he believes he should be consulted for all such procedures.

The plot thickens around Arod and the steroid doctor.
Catching cheaters doesn't stop them from cheating - it just teaches them to be smarter cheaters.

So what does this all mean then?
I doubt A-Rod is stupid enough to take PEDs again. He did it once. He learned his lesson. Does anyone with half a brain seriously think that ANYBODY would take PEDs of any kind just a month after he got outed?
A-Rod just can’t have a peaceful spring, can he. Even when he may not have done anything wrong he can’t have a peaceful spring. I don’t really understand half the stuff thats happening here. I just hope this all passes by without too much problem for him, and he can get on with his season. I just hope nothing gets complicated an prevents him from playing, because we need this guy.
also
I just read that Galea was caught with one tiny little bottle of HGH that he says was for him. He also says that to give HGH to an elite athlete, they would need at least 3 bottles of that to an athlete of A-Rod’s level for at least 6 months.
A doctor who may have treated A-Rod who was caught carrying one tiny bottle of HGH does NOT prove that Alex used it. And that seems to be what the media is trying to do. Out A-Rod as a PED user again. But if Galea is telling the truth, and the HGH was a tiny bottle for himself, then this story is being blown WAY out of proportion.
everyone cheats until proven innocent. Heck, I would do steroids if it meant I could play pro baseball.
me too
I could deal with the embarrassment of being on camera for an hour admitting I used steroids if it meant I get 30 million a year and could date any celebrity I want and play for the New York Yankees.
Most of the league has done some kind of PED at some point, I’m sure. Canseco was right. It was part of the game. And the whole league, and half the fans are hypocrites. The hating of all the steroid users. McQuire, Sosa, Bonds. The home runs they hit every night saved baseball. Everybody knew what was going on. Nobody did anything about it because it was fun to watch and fun to bring people into stadiums to watch them. I think an argument could be made that steroids were good for the game.
I’m not supporting steroids, but I think they were widespread, they were part of the game, they helped save the game, and now it’s time to move on.
People need to stop getting excited over this
HGH is not tested for in the MLB, NFL, NBA or any major sport. One would have to assume that a great number of athletes use it, especially in the NFL where gaining size but maintaining speed and agility is oh so important. The bottom line is it’s something that has to be pretty much ignored until they develop a non-blood test for it.

Yes, I agree that most pro athletes have used or are using HGH.
But I disagree that it’s something not to get worked up about just because there’s not a reliable test yet.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
how could Arod
be so ignorant as to not inform either the Yankees or his primary doctor about going to see this guy?
I would imagine guys like A-Rod are going to get as many opinions as possible
and by todays standards, if you hang out around enough sports doctors, you’re going to be linked to steroid distributors.
Is it sketchy? Yeah. But they have nothing on him and given the timing, I don’t think there’s reason to assume that he would have been doing anything less than honorable.
Today’s athletes tend to lure you into the guilty until proven innocent mindset, but I see no reason to be overly suspicious of A-Rod being guilty of anything other than stupidity.
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
The guy is a famous doctor who has a rep of treating other sports stars
is it really a surprise a big name star sees a doctor other big name stars has gone to see? Plus it suddenly a huge surprise that a doctor was caught with steroids, which is in fact a treatment for inflammatory diseases. Dear god doctors with drugs? what’s next? Policemen with Guns?!??!?
oh wait…….you said big name.
Sorry.
