Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

HotStove.com interview video

Enjoyed my segment on HotStove.com this afternoon. Interesting questions, and I tried to have some fun with my answers. Also tried to make sure I gave appropriate praise to the Almighty Francisco Cervelli. The video is below. Let me know what you think.

Thanks to the folks at Hot Stove for inviting me on.

Nice job

Good answers. I just have to say that if they ever let Jeter/Rivera go, I will personally go to Cashman’s house and throw a rock at his window. lol ok I wouldn’t but you get the point. Bernie and Pettitte are one thing. But Jeter and Rivera are above them. They are HOF Yankees. They can’t be let go.

And I would not be surprised if Rivera is still dominating the league 5 years from now. I’ll need to see his decline to believe it.

I'll only take issue with one thing, as nyyrocks did

There is no way that the Yankees choose between Jeter and Rivera next year. These are two players who mean as much to the team as anyone since Dimaggio and Mantle, and the front office will do everything in their power to keep them as long as they produce. Damon and Matsui were hired guns, and were not part of that late-90s run, and they certainly haven’t been the faces of the franchise for a decade.

Both players will be willing to compromise to retire as Yankees, and the FO will be willing to bend on their stance.

For Mo, that probably means one-year deals at his current salary. For Jeter, it probably means a paycut or deferred salary to keep him around.

In reality, I agree

I think the way the question was put to me I gave an answer that probably isn’t the one I wanted to give. Both guys are Yankees until they no longer want to play, most likely.

Hey everybody, it was great having Ed on yesterday. We threw him some tough pitches, trying to jam him inside, but he fought it off and hit them through the right side of the infield-Jeter Style! Can’t wait to have him on again!

Way to rep Cervelli Ed

I’m proud.

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
