Around SBN: SB Nation interviews Jerome Bettis

Across 12 major league seasons, he has amassed 1,710 hits and developed a reputation for being an expert defensive outfielder, a sharp base runner and a great teammate. But no active player has appeared in more regular-season games — 1,601 — without reaching the postseason, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

If Randy Winn wants to pass that title on to someone else, he'd better work with KLong on hitting lefties. I'm very nervous about our team (particularly Winn and Granderson) against tough south paws.

I think Granderson will suprise people with the protection in that line up

I really do not think Winn will not get many ABs

Same here

(about the Winn part). I think Gardner’s defensive ability makes him valuable enough to get enough at bats to warrant using Winn as a true “4th outfielder”, instead of splitting time with Gardner.

Gardner's defensive ability makes him

a late inning replacement. NOT A STARTER!!!

And

Hopefully trade bait at the deadline. Gardner will not have a long career in pinstripes.

We all know we don’t need to hit lefties, or have any lefties in the bullpen.

Never understand why people are nervous when the season hasn’t even begun.
Only in an actual game can one see if a team is good or not.

Paper results are for planners.

That streak ends at 1699 unless he gets traded.
