im all for Joba to teh roto
im surprised so many others agreed
but if Lee is signed(which is common speculation) and Pettite returns(again, speculation) than we might not have room for him
but if only one of the above transactions is completed than i think Joba should come back to starting
im also glad to see that most of the Yankees fans are sane
in that they realize that out outfield is perfectly fine the way it is
i think he should be setup
just like he was when he started. And then take Mo’s spot when he turns 50 y.o
"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
I agree with pretty much all of these
I’d like to see Joba try out for the rotation, but I doubt he makes it, especially if Lee is signed and Pettitte stays.
I see no problem with Joba trying for the rotation.
While Greinke is one of my favorite players to watch, I don’t think I would like what we would have to give up for him.
I'm not even kidding
If you’re gonna let Joba try out for the rotation you might as well use him as the centerpiece of a trade for Greinke. I think we have the pitching prospects in the wings and we can survive without Joba. Why is nobody considering that we can have Wood as a setup guy / Mo backup. If the deal makes sense for both sides, do it.
I say this even if Greinke pulls a “Michael Rappaport from ‘The Scout’” and locks himself in a clubhouse bathroom stall, vomiting before his first start while repeating “I need the Lord” multiple times. (Great yankee movie btw) – thats how much I doubt Joba right now- prove me wrong big fella.

dont the Royals already have a highly touted catching prospect?
Wil Myers?
am i just imagining this?
You imagine nothing! Myers is a 19 year old who played in A and A+ last year (.908 and .966 OPS at each stop), and they think very highly of him.

again, i’m really skeptical with joba going back to the rotation. i’m scared he might get screwed up more

WHAT?

"As soon as I got to the plate with my bat, I saw the Baltimore manager come out of the dugout to talk to the pitcher. And I knew what he said, he said, "whatever you do, do not walk this guy". Then right on the first pitch, I hit a home run over center field of the fense."
....That was the easy part, the hard part was running around the bases."
Lee & Crawford would be a plus... Greinke no way
I would go after Lee,only if Andy retires, Crawford and keep Gardner, plus let Joba be a starter.
Crawford would be a great leadoff hitter for us.
Greinke appears to be a one year wonder and would not be worth the prospects necessary in trade

Why not Werth though?
He is very good and is a great improvement over Swisher in right. Great Improvement!
Anyways I hope we dont trade Montero cuz we are effed in that position next year. Posada and whats his face, cervelli, blows behind the plate. Awful and Posada doenst even frame pitches anymore! He could take a lesson or two with that fat Molina in Texas.
Gardner for President.
Crawford gives us speed & defense; Werth... home runs
With Tex, Arod, Cano & Swisher giving us home runs, we do not need another home run hitter.
We need table setters, get on base, steal threat and play excellent defense.
I do not think Werth is much of an upgrade over Swisher offensively and defensively Swisher is adequate. Werth is not worth the price differential over Swisher in my opinion.

IF Joba is on the roster next year
I think he and ONLY he should decide if he really wants to have another shot at starting. He’s been pulled in so many different directions already that I think telling him what they want him to be will only mess him up more.
Time for Joba to have another chance with another team
The Yankees make mistakes like all organizations and their approach to Joba was a big one. They had an incredible set up man who could be groomed as Mariano’s replacement. He had confidence and was great at what he did.
Now, we have a confused young man who needs a second chance with another club. I think he’s still got a chance at a great future but only with a fresh start elsewhere. The Yanks should trade him. He still has great value. Sure, someday he’ll come back to the Stadium and be lights out again. But, sad to say, not in pinstripes.
