I want a sweep
lol just because I’ll be at the game Sunday and want to see them clinch, but this article just adds fuel to the fire. I’m studying to be a teacher and when I finish I would never make a child turn his/her shirt inside out because it was a red sox shirt.

i'll be at the game on Wed...
but there’s not way I want it to go then.. I’m fine with the sweep.

This is RIDICULOUS.....
and I really feel the teacher should be nailed…..Almost as bad as the teacher that taught the 9 year old student a song praising obama…..There is NO place for these clowns.
Now YANKEES, go pound the redsux…..

I really couldnt believe...
that an adult red sox fan could stoop so low. Well you know what? all the red sox fans i know seem to be pretty old, but they act like their little school children whose dad is better than yours. So, ya, i guess i can see a man child red sox fan stoop so low.
What are red sox fans doing in central NY anyways?

A fact I pathetically did not know until a few years ago-
Ny and Mass actually border each other, with parts of western Mass being closer to Syracuse than NYC.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Yeah, I live in Syracuse
and there are probably as many Red Sox fans as Yankees fans.

What we have here
is failure of common sense and good judgement.

Really??
When I was in HS I wore a “Don’t be a Dick” shirt and was asked the same thing. Of course it had two meanings for me. One, dont drink and drive and two, Dont be a Dick! It was funny to me when I was 16. Now, I hate the Red Sox like most, if not all Yank fans. But, this is a kid who is supporting his team and it doesnt have any distractions on it (im guessing!!). The teacher should be written up by the adminstration.
I teach 3rd grade and if one of my students walked in with a shirt, lets say, Choke….the official drink of the New York Yankees…I wouldnt make him take it off, turn it inside out, or anything other. He has a right towear what he wants in class and I shouldnt tell him what to or not to wear (as long as it is appropriate language).
Im not saying he would get an A in my class!!!! LOL. j/k of course!! People need to chill a little and let kids grow up enjoying sports.

Quite honestly...
I would feel the same outrage if the teacher was a Yankee fan, doing this to kid in Red Sox shirt. There should be NO tolerance of this kinda crap from an elementary school teacher.

If you're into this sort of thing...
…my thoughts on the matter are here:

My son was on the Red Sox little league team this spring...
I was an assistant coach. I would not wear a Red Sox, but I was fine with my son wearing it and the jersey.
After his final game he said, " Good, now I don’t have to wear that hat again."
This teacher should be reprimanded.

I had a similar experience back in high school
when I was a junior in my math class. But it wasn’t this bad. My teacher was a big time Red Sox fan with Red Sox stuff all over the classroom, and I had my Yankees shirt on for a casual day (normally we wore uniforms). Jokingly, she came over to me and told me to wear a sheet of paper taped to my shirt that said “Red Sox” on it over my Yankees shirt. Since I knew she was joking and that she liked me as a student, I took the paper, stuck it on my pants and sat on it right in front of her. It stayed that way for the rest of the class.
As for this case in Syracuse, that’s just unacceptable and ridiculous. That teacher is an idiot and really needs to be disciplined in some way.

yea kind of sad a grown man stoops this low...
I can see the teacher joking around with him a little about the shirt…but gosh…..turn it inside out?…….sending the wrong message to them other kids in the classroom….right to express yourself…freedom of speech?…hope this teacher doesn’t teach u.s. history also….if gerardi didn’t have enough motivation before…show this article to arod jeter and the boys….
Still…..fucc the sox…..

Seriously?
And you wonder why no one wants to be a teacher these days with the great pay and all. He should get a reprimand by the principal, apologize to the student and parents and that’s it.

Seriously?
I didn’t know embarrassing your students based on baseball rooting preference was part of the lure of teaching jobs.
I just figured it was the easy tenure and summers off that were the main draws.

Do you know how many......

Leaving aside how badly you underestimate the difficulty of teaching…
The guy should apologize and be forced to live by his own standards. Take down all the Red Sox stuff in the classroom and replace it with educational material/ posters.
I know a laid off teacher currently living in Jersey who’d be happy to send the guy a few English grammar and literature posters.

Seriously, I AM a teacher
Anybody who thinks this an easy gig can do my job for a week and let me know how “easy” it is.
That said, what this teacher did is inexcusable. You simply don’t do that kind of thing. You don’t punish a kid for his wardrobe unless it’s promoting booze or drinking, violence to someone, or intolerant hatred. Even then, your focus is on educating them why it’s inappropriate. It is not for settling your athletic allegiance’s scores.

THAT'S B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is such bull crap. I’m a die hard yankee fan and if I was a teacher I wouldn’t do that to a redsox fan, I’d probably joke wit him or her but NEVER do that! That’s my thoughts.
Yanks rock!!!
