Everyone loves Derek Jeter... Even Curt Shilling

I was on LoHud just now and came across this link to Shilling's blog

Derek Jeter has always been above the fray. As someone who’s wallowed in it, “foot-in-mouthed” it hundreds of times, said dumb things and backed up dumber ones, it’s refreshing. He’s shown up, played, and turned in a first-ballot Hall of Fame career in the hardest environment in sports to do any/all of the above.

...

So, congratulations Derek, you earned every ounce of respect and accolades thrown your way, and you’re one of the few men I ever competed against who is worthy of having his name mentioned with the same reverence and respect as Lou Gehrig.

Well, at least he knows he has a foot-in-mouth syndrome.

Here's the link if you're interested:

Schilling can still suck a bag of dirty rocks

He doesn’t have a choice but to respect Jeter’s “G”.
I wonder if he names his next kid Derek, like he did Gehrig?

I couldn’t careless about Shilling… I just thought it was interesting that he actually took enough time to pull his head out of his ass to congratulate the good Captain.

Thank God for making us Yankees.

Right up to "refreshing"

I though Schilling was talking about himself.

he was talking about himself and the refreshing part was that Derek is above “the fray”

Who cares about what Schilling thinks?

So he said something good about Derek Jeter. So what? How can you NOT say something good about Derek Jeter? Even the biggest idiots (other than Jim Rice) can praise Derek Jeter. Schilling, like ReggieArodJeter said, can suck a bag of dirty rocks for all I care. I still haven’t forgot when last year he was on the Boston radio, couldn’t even play, and he comes out and says, “you know what, the Yankees suck this year”. And that was at a time when we were still in the damn race. And that “Bloody sock” game? Where we aren’t even sure if it was real blood? Wouldn’t surprise me if he was on steroids either. He may be one of my least favorite players ever to watch. I LOVED his reaction after Tino Martinez hit that home run in Game 4 of the ’01 series (as he started that game). Just another reason to love Tino!

again, I couldn’t careless about him. I wouldn’t even let him licking the bottom of my scum infested shoe. I’m just shocked that he stepped out of his self important bubble and recognize that there are other people in the world besides him.

And I love, love, love Tino. He’s one of my favorite players of all time.

Thank God for making us Yankees.

+1

Tino replaced Mattingly about the best you can possibly ask for.

People always talk about Jeter, MO, Bernie, O’Neil, Pettite, A-Rod Brosious, when they are talking about the best players on the dynasty teams….but they never mention the #4 hitter, the GG winning 1B Tino.

And I wish Schilling would just unretire and receive a line-drive comebacker to the nose.

What the f$%k is the internet?
