Hello again Claggett... goodbye Cody??
From Pete Abe:
Anthony Claggett is headed to Toronto and will join the Yankees today. He was 4-6 with a 3.02 ERA in 32 games at Scranton. Claggett was on the 25-man roster on April 18 and allowed eight runs on nine hits in 1.2 innings against Cleveland.
...
The scenario could be Cody Ransom gets DFA’d, Claggett is here for a day or two and at some point Ramiro Pena rejoins the team. We’ll find out soon enough.
Please let this be the end of the Cody Ransom era... Not to mention I'd love to see Pena back up.

Makes sense
Claggett is probably just fodder to use should Mitre pitch like Mitre today. No need in using the other guys when you can just trot out a couple minor leaguers.

Ding dong the horrible utility man is dead!
Girardi must be holding back tears.

I wouldn't exactly use the word "utility" to describe Cody

Good point
“Utility” implies usefulness.

although...
the “utility” does make me think of tools. that’s kinda fitting.

Definition of the word "utility"
1. the state or quality of being useful; usefulness: This chemical has no utility as an agricultural fertilizer.
2. something useful; a useful thing.
3. a public service, as a telephone or electric-light system, a streetcar or railroad line, or the like. Compare public utility (def. 1).
4. Often, utilities. a useful or advantageous factor or feature: the relative utilities of a religious or a secular education.
Whatever Ransom was, he had no “utility” to the Yankees.

It’s amazing it took this long.

he's just Mitre insurance...
in case there’s another early exit… either way, the Yanks need to bring out the big bats tonight.
Hopefully what Pete says comes true- he’s up for a few days, and then Pena comes back up.

the last time Claggett
paired with our worst starter, the opposition scored 22.

meh
A loss is a loss. If we are going to lose, I’d just as soon save the pen for Boston. I’d say if the bats are not popping early and often, Girardi mails it in and starts subbing out Alex, Posada, and anyone else that might benefit from a night (or half night) off

that's the spirit!!
/sarcasm
how about— the YANKS get out to a huge lead early, THEN girardi pulls the starters… I happen to like that better.

Cody, we hardly knew ye
Actually, we knew way too much of ye. What we don’t know is why ye were kept on the roster when it’s obvious that ye can’t hit, can’t field, and can’t run particularly fast.

I really don't care if A-Rod and Jeter
aren’t friendly enough anymore to invite each other to their 3-way’s. The’ve both moved on so who cares?

Ransom should go to the Red Sox
I wonder if Girardi loses like Omar did, having to let go of someone special in his life.

Pena > Ransom
it was a no brainer to send down pena so he could play every day.. obviously he will replace Cody ransom soon enough .. My only concern is if that trip down to AAA hurt his confidence… That goes for Cervelli too..

Why would the Yankees call up Pena when they just acquired Hairston? It seems to be that the Yankees would benefit from having another arm in the bullpen in case Mitre, Petitte, or Chamberlin have to exit a game early.
The Yankees lost the Angels series because they depleted the bullpen in order to win that Thursday game against Minnesota. I’d rather not see that again.
