Cashman on Joba "rules"
He was just on with Chris Russo on Sirius XM, and said their plan is to have Joba start into the playoffs and that they are flexible with his innings limit.
Given the fact that they don't have any other options, I'm glad to hear him say as much.
He wasn't specific with their plan for him, but was pretty clear that he'll be starting in the playoffs if they get there.

Joba is already at 110 innings
hopefully he gets skipped in the rotation whenever possible, but I agree he needs to start in the playoffs.
With any luck, he can continue to be effective, but keep his innings at or below 160-170.
Hughes would come in
They would have to send him down to Scranton for a couple weeks to get his arm ready, but you can slide Mitre and Kei in as stop gaps until Phil could take a starting spot.

And then I'd kill myself...
…rather than watching those two take 40% of the Yankees starts.

Yeah I know
But we are talking hypotheticals. No one expected Wang to go down again this season. At the beginning of the year we had too MUCH starting pitching.

It's actually desperation..
If Joba can’t start those games, who does?

+1 and matter fact 1+1=2
“If Joba can’t start those games, who does?”
Thats what it comes down to.

I don't see how this can happen
I’ve been operating under the assumption that the innings limit is closer to 170, but even at that number, I don’t see how Joba can start all year and still make 3-4 starts (God willing) in the post-season. Perhaps if they have a playoff spot wrapped up by early September and skip over him once and/or limit him to 4-5 innings in his last few starts they’d be close, but I really don’t see how this is going to work.

I Lied
I’m reading your thread, and thank you for it. I was waiting to hear exactly what you just reported.
I see things you don't see.
What a relief.
I don’t have to hang myself now.

About time
You can’t go to war with 1 hand tied behind your back that’s what the joba rules are the equivalent of i’m glad to hear that Cashman said that
innings limit.
aren’t innings limit a little misconceiving? especially when joba ends up throwing like 30 pitches in a struggling inning? at the end of year, his innings might not look so high, but his total pitch count would tell a different story.
