The Jet Stream Is A Gift From The Baseball Gods

They are complete idiots if during the off season they try to correct the problem at the New Yankee Stadium. THERE IS NO PROBLEM!  They Yankees have been blessed,.......again.  Some people believe that if God has a favorite team it's the New York Yankees. Some believe there was a curse of the great Bambino. Some believe there were ghosts at the old Yankee stadium. I believe the right field jet stream at the new stadium is meant to be. A jet stream that seems to blow harder when the Yankees are batting.

Since 2004 there are only two teams in the AL that have had winning records on the road each and every season. The Yankees and the Angels. Winning on the road is the sign of a great team. The Yankees do that better than anyone. However the Yankees have NEVER had the pleasure of a distinct home field advantage. I say distinct because every team should have the slight  home field advantage. Home cooking and comfortable surroundings alone would give the slight advantage.

When evaluating a clear home field advantage in the AL  one team truly stands out. The Boston Red Sox have been mediocre on the road since 2004 with two losing seasons. Yet they are at the top of the standings every year. Last year  the Yankees had the 2nd best record on the road in the AL  behind the Angels and  they missed the playoffs. Yet the Red Sox had a losing record on the road and made the playoffs. How?? The Red Sox have the biggest homefield advantage in baseball. There team as a whole bats 30 points higher at home and there are two guys in particular,  Pedroia and Ortiz  who are PEDESTRIAN on the road and have lifetime averages of 50 points higher at Fenway. The Red Sox have had the luxury of inflated numbers for 100 years and Fenway has TRANSFORMED good players in to great players time after time. For the first time ever the Yankees are starting to enjoy some of these advantages

Could you imagine what it would be like if you took the best road team in the league this past decade and suddenly gave them a home field advantage as good as any one. If you suddenly gave them the same advantage as a team who's biggest reason for success is just that, their home field advantage. WELL IMAGINE NO MORE!!!!!

Very interesting

I agree, especially with Jason Bay, who seems like a superstar in Boston but is truly a career 270 batter. My only concern is that the yankees forget that the shortened field in right is not the same as on the road and they get big hitting poor fielding right fielders. I love Nick Swisher, but when is time has come, i don’t want to see another Abreu who can’t field for his life. As long as they balance offense and defense im more than happy with the current stadium.

You mention Swish

I find it very odd that he’s hit the vast majority of his homers on the road. Maybe he’s trying too hard to not be dependent on the jet stream?

Also very interesting that you mention Swisher

when refering to Abreu about fielding. Swisher might have a few lapses out there, but otherwise he’s pretty solid out there.

Id like an upgrade, but having him out there =/= Abreu.

There is no jet stream at all

There’s no proof of a jet stream at the new stadium. Various sources have done studies and nothing is there.

It’s the RF wall that is the issue. It’s 2 feet shorter and anywhere between 4-9 feet closer. The old wall curved, the new wall is a straight line.

Any homer you see in that range of the front of the wall can be said to be a product of the new wall…..anything else is a no doubter…..

That's pretty much it, yeah

If you took out every homer that landed in the first 3 rows in RF, the numbers would be in line with the old Stadium.

Question

Are you speaking for the Yankees? Do they feel the way you and I do? Here in Boston they continue to talk about what adjustments the Yankees will make to the stadium during the off season. It seems to be understood. That’s why I started this thread.

I see things you don't see.

As someone who constantly

talks about Red Sox conspiracies, how the hell could you believe them?

Its really not true. They might just change it, they might not.

Its really funny that people in Boston would even say a damn thing about any stadium in the entire league, considering the albatross of a stadium that they’ve fielded for years.

Fenway is a landmark and one of the most historically legendary parks in the game. I know that. But the fact that so many players in their history have such skewed home/away splits, and considering that the snide new wave of Red Sox fans think they are so smart (take a look at Over the Monster….), they would think before they make a remark about the new Yankee stadium.

Then again, Red Sox fans are just about the biggest hypocrites in all of sports, so its nothing new.

Who knows...

There is no talk in NY about changes to the New Stadium next year. Just fan talk and talking heads on the TV or whatever. People are wondering…….

Other than

The occasional cheap homer, Yankee stadium is a pitcher’s park.

I don't know

if I would say that…………but surely its hitter friendly in in a particular spot. Its calmed down considerably the past couple months compared to the start of the year. But I really do believe the Yankees hitters love it, while the Yankees pitching staff, not so much.
