So, do we have the East sewn up

There has been some loose talk in the last two days about having the East Sewn up.  Well it didn't take last night's loss to make me think we do not.

I looked at the schedule.  Here is my thinking.

We lead by 6 in the loss column.  We have 6 left head to head with Boston.  So, they cannot really be dead.

But here's some more.  We have 21 home and 20 away.  They have 20 home and 23 away.  We have a small advantage, but it is small.

They have 2 less games against teams with winning records and 4 more games against teams with losing records.  Tampa has 6 games with each of us while the Angles have 4 with us and 3 with them.

The lead is only six in the loss column, so look at all the scenarios.  The conclusion is inevitable, we have work to do.  We, in particular must win a bunch of games against the RS, Angles and Rays.

Just keep winning boys, I'm pulling for you.

It would take the Yankees really falling apart and the Red Sox really getting it together to lose our lead. Keep in mind, the Red Sox have NEVER in their history overcome a deficit this large. That doesn’t necessarily mean this can’t be the first time, but history is with us.

The east is as sewn up as much as

last night’s game was an easy win. Don’t count those chickens. All it will take is a 9 or 8 game losing streak (they happen, you know) and we all go back to biting our nails.

And don't forget, the Yanks already lost 8 straight

to the Sox this season. No reason they cannot do it again. Let’s try not to jinx this.

My point exactly

except I do not believe in Jinxes, or curses.

If I's known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Casey

When the Red Sox

are mathmatecially eliminated, the East is sewn up. Until then just remember the words of the great Mr. Berra," It ain’t over till it’s over."

"I don't want one of those guys who'll drive in two but let in three every game." Casey Stengel

It's not "sewn up"

But taking 2 of 3 this weekend will go a long way towards making that happen. A sweep would just about do it, IMO.

Ssorry, but sewn up means the magic number is zero.

with 39 games left the Yankee magic number is now,

34.

I feel like a lotto ad.

But you’re right. 2 of three in Fenway would be a big blow. But we need to win games against the Rays too.

If I's known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Casey
