Mike Francesa stupidity & more

Now I understand Jason Hirsh isn't a well known guy, but to act like an a##-h### because he hasn't heard of someone just speaks to his stupidity. (via BBTF)

Francesa

He’s the only sports personality we have that’s a Yankees fan. The rest of the people on his station are Mets homers who refuse to admit they are done. Respect Miked Up.

Mike only knows one thing

For a guy who does sports talk radio it’s amazing that he’s mastered only one thing… how to talk.

by IDCWhoYouLike on Aug 12, 2009 10:33 PM EDT reply actions

I Love Francesa

Listen to him everyday he’s on. As a yankee fan and a baseball expert if he hasn’t heard of the name of that the trade took place its expected for him to react that way. You didn’t play the rest of the clip, where he admitted to the mistake… I mean do you listen to half the callers he talks to…? 95% are overly judgemental and bais without really having any kind of clue to what they are talking about.

I'm a Yankee fan

who has a fulltime job that ISN"T being a NY sports radio personality and I heard of the trade. That’s inexcusable. Then he’s so goddamn arrogant he hangs up on the guy.
Screw him, he’s a dinosaur, he knows it’s only a matter of time before he becomes obsolete. People with 5 minutes and an internet connection can find out more about baseball then in a whole week of listening to him.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

by CasanovaWong on Aug 13, 2009 6:50 AM EDT up reply actions

did you watch the whole clip?

he does admit his mistake, and makes himself look like an ass in the process. i dont mind so much that he hasn’t heard of the guy, but that he’s so arrogant/self-righteous about the whole thing.

He needs a sidekick...badly

I was never a big fan of the Mad Dog but he kept the show entertaining. Mike alone is not as interesting, maybe they should bring in Adam Schein.

He's a d*ck

I remember the day the Yanks called up Robinson Cano and Ching Ming. Mikey and Doggy never heard of them and laughed and laughed making fun of their names, like 4th graders

I listen to him but he pisses me off often

What amazes me about him is he is allowed to treat people the way he does. He is so rude to callers and he acts like he is so much better. As for being a Yankee fan, I believe he is a closet Sux fan. He basically makes the Sux sound like their organization is way better than the Yankees.

by Mondoas on Aug 13, 2009 6:33 AM EDT reply actions

I don't know

Red Sox probably have been better run in recent years—-thinking specificially about the Randy Johnson/Jaret Wright/Kevin Brown years—-but this year Yankees have probably had the upper hand. They signed Penny and Smoltz and sort of admitted they were just hoping one of the two would work out. All they seem to do is see what white guys with goatees are available and then go after them.

Victor Martinez was a rare exception to the “white guys with goatees” rule, but I think that move was a little bit shortsighted and desperate myself. In fact, the Yankees offseason moves this year worked out so well they had no real pressing needs at the trade deadline. I had my doubts—-about CF in particular—-this year, but in retrospect, perhaps the Yankees front office knew something I didn’t.

I like Mike however

I agree with Mondoas to an extent .. since 04 he tries to balance his fandom for the Yanks with praise and coverage of the Mets and he has had man crushes on Manny and countless other people in the Sux organization.. I thought Fruity Pants aka Russo and him were going to have a heartache when I suggested that the Sox blowing the WORLD SERIES being one strike away in 86 was a greater choke than losing 4 straight in the ALCS .. You do need Russo back as he generated the interest with his anti NY attitude .. plus his histronics were priceless…

What pisses me off

is when he talks over people who have solid points and valid arguments…….then he doesn’t want to hear you.

by ReggieARodJeter on Aug 13, 2009 11:56 AM EDT reply actions

that's why he sucks

he feels what he says is the only thing that’s right.

Its like the Joba thing. He still makes a big deal of it when he talks to Cashman or Girardi. Most of the fans really just wanna see Joba succeed, this dork just wants to be right.

Mike...

is a total blowhard d-bag. Whenever I happen to tune in and he’s going off on some rant about something, with 100% conviction and 110% arrogance, I know that it’s going to be about something that I disagree with him about. He’s a total moron who sucks all the joy out of any room he’s in, I’m sure. He sure sucks the joy out of sports.

Haha

I was watching YES when this call happened and it was just another Mike FrAncesa blunder LOL! He was really blowin the other day when he said he wouldn’t pick Mariano first on a “fantasy” team.. He blows my mind sometimes…

He is just a pompous fathead

Someone needs to take him down a peg. He is such an a@#hole. I thought yea he is the only Yankee guy on the fan but who needs him. If your not a member of the program he treats you like your a moron

by RollingThunder on Aug 13, 2009 4:27 PM EDT reply actions

I agree...

Who needs the FAN when you’ve got sites like this where you can actually read something thoughtful from time to time—-and a whole TV network devoted to the Yankees!

I FORGOT

about his obsession with Joba being in the bullpen. He’s talking about Joba and he says how he just can’t cut it. He goes but you know what he is good at? Getting out of trouble. He gets in jams and then he strikes out people. Then he says “you know what that shows”? He belongs in the bullpen! Maybe he’s right BUT I do hope he’s wrong because if he ends up being right we will never hear the end of it.

by Mondoas on Aug 13, 2009 5:05 PM EDT reply actions

I guess

it seemed ridiculous to him that this guy would ask him that in the same tone as “What do you think Alex Rodriguez”. I guess the caller thinks that Mike, being a sports show host and thus presumably knowledgeable about sports and sports news, must know about all the deals that go down, even the minor ones. It was an odd exchange. I guess if the guy had said “By the way the Yanks traded for a once highly-touted prospect named Jason Hirsch”. “Do you know anything about him and if so what’s your opinion of him?” then Mike would not have reacted that way. But is was smug and uncalled for. You could tell he was getting off on ripping that guy for thinking he might actually know who he was talking about. It was like he used this question as an opportunity to vent whatever anger or frustration he’d accumulated on that day up to that point. It was self-serving and stupid. What a blowhard!!

So arrogant

I listened to that show and thought that Mike was such as A**hole. He is so arrogant that he has made people actually miss Chris Russo. A rare feat. I love when people call him out on his predictions/facts and he goes nuts. Especially between 1-3, or as I like to call them the “unemployment timeslot.”

I try to listen to Kay’s show when I can. I’m not a huge fan of Michael (and not that he’s any less arrogant), but he has some honest reactions to the team. He also does watch the team a lot more than Mike.

Mike is so in love with Joba to the pen that after each of Joba’s really good starts, he just shrugs it off and says, “I didn’t watch the game.”

Do not complain if it were not for him getting so upset over the rain out at the pga earlier this yr alot of you would have got stiffed on your tickets, there was to be no refund until he threatened to devote the following days show to bashing pro golfs policies in a down economy.Like it or not this guy put cash in some of your pockets so he is not totally bad.He is no more arrogant then half the posts I read here everyday. With that said he could work on his manners.Excited to see what Gaudin has as a starter for a good team, maybe just maybe he can turn it around, seems like he is happy to be a Yankee.

francesa is a pompous fool, who when interviewing anybody won’t let that person ever speak or tell their own story. he has also called posada a borderline hall of famer as well as deifying bernie williams…
he’s wrong more than he’s right and never engages listeners/callers, he is very dismissive, granted there are a bunch of dopes out there but he’s just an arrogant boob.
