Wakefield Won't Get A Post Season Start
His own organization doesn't trust him enough to start a post season game, but they scream and hollar he should be an all star. Maybe it's because Wakefield has given up 5 runs or more in 5 starts, or 1/3 of his starts. Meanwhile Kevin Millwood has given up 5 runs ONCE. He has a lower ERA, Lower WHIP more K's more innings pitched, and Kevin Millwood lost 4 games giving up 2 runs or fewer!!!. Than there is Jared Weaver who also has better numbers across the board and has CARRIED the team as a NUMBER ONE while Lackey, Santana, and Escobar were out. I don't think Burnett or Sabathia have pitched particularly well but they still pitched better than Wakefield.
Show me another all star starter who has given up 5 runs ore more in 1/3 of their starts and I'll blow you!!!

I don't know about the title
cuz he probably will should they get there,
But you’re right, Wakefield like Pedroia has no buisness in the AS game (either does Josh Hamilton…..)
There are much more deserving players. The idiot fans are usually good for a starter or 3 that don’t deserve it across both leagues
But the pitchers make no sense. That Millwood and/or Weaver got left off because of Wakefield is beyond wrong.
People can bash Joba all they want, but his ERA is still lower than Wakefield!
There’s usually a few players left off the team, mainly because of the fans voting non-deserving players. But the pitchers usually are well done cuz they are done by the coaches/players
Now I mean if guys like Millwood and Weaver got in but didn’t go b/c of timing, then Wakefield had to go, then I guess OK.
I said it before, wins usually gets you in the AS game. Wakefield is right up there at the top with that, so unfortunately he gets in.

OMG
actually there are 4 starters for the Yankees with a better ERA than wakefield. Pettitte, Joba, Burnett, CC. Also Burnett and CC have better ERA’s than Beckett. P.S. i don’t think any of the pitchers I mentioned should be all stars, yankees included. This is not about the Yankees being snubbed. This is about the unhealthy influence the Boston media has on MLB

I think that a good way to show how ridiculous this is would be
would be if all Yankee fans united and bloc voted the way the Sox fans do. Let’s see if next year we can make Francisco Cervelli the starting catcher in the All Star game. I’ve really had enough of this Sawx Nation propaganda and its time for us to fight back.

Dude
I voted, and I voted foe Morneau at first and Kinsler at second. Why should i do that as a Yankee fan if other teams and their fans look at it as a popularity contest.

Sorry
If the Playoffs started today it would be Beckett, Lester, Penny, Smoltz. After all it’s why they got Smoltz. Two games in after a year away and he’s better than Wakefield already
I see things you don't see.

How about posting something on this site...
…that DOESN’T have something to do with the Red Sox. I know you live up there and all, but give it a rest.
Oh, and Duggan:

Let’s look in the mirror. Don’t you think Minnesota fans are saying the same thing about Yankee fans with Tex getting voted in over Morneau? It happens with every team that has large following.
Maybe Louie can take the high ground for his vote for Morneau, but I would say a bulk of Yankee fans, myself included, wanted to see Tex there, and voted as such. Same thing happened with Pedroia- just because we don’t like the Sox doesn’t make it any more right or wrong. It’s just the way it is.

My issue is this...
I realize that the fans picking the starters for the game means that it’s entirely going to be a popularity contest. Jeter and Tex won for us, Pedroia and Bay won for them, were they the most deserving? Probably not to each one of them. However, Boston ends up with SIX all stars, leading MLB. Last year it was Varitek, this year, Wakefield. How many times do they have to get preferential treatment given to their popular “sentimental” picks before we say the system is unjust?
I feel like this is caused by a continual barrage of Red Sox propaganda coming from ESPN and the like. For each of the last 3 or 4 Wakefield starts, the recap has been covered with “Now it’d really be great if THIS guy made the all star team.” The ESPN/Sox Nation campaign to guilt trip Maddon and the players to put an undeserving player into the game started weeks ago.
I was thinking of fan posting on this very subject a few weeks ago, but now I think it would be beating a dead horse. In any all star game there is going to be people being homers, but it just seems like the Sox continually get preferential treatment.

I can agree with you...
on the reserves portion of it… should Wakefield be in on merit? No, but that is and always will be (under the current system) at the discretion of the manager. I am sure Maddon has his reasons, but I don’t think they involve sitting around watching pro-Sox “propaganda” on ESPN. I think Maddon’s got his hands full managing an MLB team. More than likely he did it as a favor to Francona or something of the like.
So you can be angry, but it’s not likely to change any time soon. And yes, as far as voting goes there will always be complete jokes among the top vote getters- one needs look no further than Josh Hamilton, who basically got in on the strength of his showing at last years HR Derby.

The fan voting
That’s one thing, and I agree the Yankees have an unfair advantage with their popularity. It’s expected that the fans screw up. I don’t like the fans choosing. It’s something WE ALL complain about. I’m talking about a MANAGERS PICK. The fans of Boston COULDN’T SUFF the ballot boxes and LOBBIED FOR Wakefield in a grass roots effort. They couldn’t stuff the box, so they started a grass roots effort,…..and succeeded. That’s my point.
I see things you don't see.
