Posada SAVED
Girardi’s ass. No two ways about it. If Jorge grounded into a DP JoeG would have been massacred.

Giriardi actually said "Somebody misunderstood something".
I like the fact he protected Robbie. Classy.

Hopefully
Cano is being made to write that 1000 times without the courtesy of copy and paste. When he has finished, I think he should be rewarded with batting in the 7 hole.

Cano
actually laid down a good bunt…
but Tex so wasn’t expecting it on 3-0. understandably so.
1. there’s gotta be better communication. that falls on Girardi.
2. Cano shouldn’t be bunting anyway, that falls on him. 0-5 before that influenced his decision. he’s probably got low confidence there, so it’s understandable.
3. Tex should’ve gotten a little better read there.
4. They all got bailed out by Posada.

If I was in Cano's position
And I THINK my manager called a bunt on a 3-1 I would make damn sure I bunted it foul.

cano’s bunt sucked…he deadened the ball far too much…in that situation you need to make the 3rd baseman field the ball not the c…by what skip said either him or tex fucked it up…im betting cano

Bunting, sundry
Was it desperation for a .300 hitter to bunt and get on base on 3-0? Probably. Note to Joe G, going forward:
To light a fire under Robby Cano:
1. Have him pick up and take out the garbage in the locker room after each game he hits into a DP or goes 0-5 or 0-4. Maybe that will get him realize what a G-d given privilege it is to have a job that every one of us would gladly do for free. Humility and competitiveness in a Yankee is mighty good for the character and for leadership.
If he gives you a quizzical look, wonders what you are talking about, point over at number 2,
2. Have him run, run, run. Run wind sprints every single time he dribbles a grounder to the left side with two outs bases loaded and w/ guys on first and in scoring position.
No pouty face after DP, ever.
3. Watch tapes of Ichiro – and Rod Carew if any exists. Both of them learned how to wield a bat like a pool cue and not a cylinder of wood. Say, try going with the pitch? Trajectory, speed, angle.
4. Have him tape Wee Willie Keeler’s motto to his locker – ‘hit em where they ain’t’
5. If all else fails, sit down with Reggie. Maybe he could explain to the boy what clutch hitting is all about.

There's s third party in there that people are forgetting
maybe cuz he now is the one who can do no wrong, but what about TEx?
A-Rod seemed to know what was going on, HE WAS MOVING!!
Bunting on 3-0 is completely against the grain, but if you actually noticed the bunt, IT WORKED!
If Tex was actually moving on the play, there would be 2nd and third no problem.
Now I think Girardi should not call a bunt on 3-0, Cano should know better too. But if BOTH called that play, why was Tex cemented at 2nd?

So
I think maybe Cano has finally shown that he doesn’t belong in the five-hole. It’s time for Posada or Matsui to take that spot, a veteran who has done it before.

He really shouldn't have been there to begin with
I guess they tried to see if he was going to break out and be a run producer, but he’s not.
There’s a reason why guys like Posada and Matsui, and for that matter Tex and A-Rod have seasons where they knock in well over 100 runs. Cano just isn’t that guy and i have no clue as to what is going through his mind.
He needs to sit for a game, but he probably won’t cuz A-Rod’s day off is more than likely today.
I’ve been saying Cano needs to be moved down the order for a month. I know I aint no where close to an expert, but anyone could see this guys was costing the team runs in the 5 hole.
Cano is a very good hitter still, he’s one of the better 2B in the AL, but the 5 hole is no good for him.
