Red Sox Nation Is Real,.........
And it's spiraling out of control. As I discussed on an earlier thread this Tim Wakefield all star lobbying is REDONKULOUS!! Well it's worse than I thought. I'm watching ESPN last night and they throw out 4 names while discussing who should start the ALL Star game for the AL. Tim Wakefield was one of the 4 guys they put up for discussion. Meanwhile he was just out pitched by Felix Hernandez. Felix Hernandez has been out pitching Wakefield ALL YEAR and has half his ERA and no luxury of 6 runs per game run support. Felix Hernandez is just one of about 10 guys who have out pitched Wakefield all year in the AL. How does Tim Wakefields name get brought up for discussion. I'll tell you how. The local media in Boston has infiltrated the national stage. You have Boston HOMERS with a ton of influence across the board. Little whispers in a PODUNK little city turn into national discussion. I think it's pathetic that the squeeky wheel gets the most oil but that's what happens. Don't be fooled by what is going on in Boston. They understand the influence they have and use it. Over hyping their players to get more value is going on CONSTANTLY through local media which the national guys who were once Boston guys now get wind of and then all of the sudden you hear something enough and it becomes real. I will not lay down without a fight. So here I am.
You know what else is pathetic. For the last week leading up to the end of all star voting, every time you watched a Red Sox game you would learn of the website you can go to to vote for your "favorite" Red Sox to send to ST. Louis. I. Even the way they phrased it was sketchy. "Vote for your favorite Red Sox". It is sad that fans who claim to be so sophisticated and knowledgeable are simple minded unobjective homers. I'm sorry. Ian Kinsler was GOING TO BE THE MVP LAST YEAR before he got hurt. It would be a shame to see the MVP by default start at first base when clearly Kinsler is the better player having the better season.
Yankee Universe needs to wake up because the nation and it's voice are getting louder and louder!

I agree
It was a 3 horse race. Quentin goes down Kinsler goes down and Morneau bats 200 in September. There you have your MVP by default.

WOW
if you watch a RED SOX GAME, they will tell you to go vote for your FAVORITE RED SOX player….
If they wanted RED SOX FANS to go vote for a Yankee, Id think there was something wrong wouldn’t you?
Wakefield has leached a bunch of wins, but he’s also pitches into the 7th inning a lot.
He isn’t an all-star (Beckett or Lester..yes), and this sentimental choice is stupid cuz 29 other teams don’t give a rats ass about Wakefield.
I don’t hear Yankee fans making a sentimental choice for Andy Pettite, tho he leads the team in wins.
But who really cares? They do have a bunch of legitmate All-stars. Youkilis, Bay, Becket all should be locks. I mean if you look at Wakefields numbers, they are quite good, so its really not like its a bad choice.
There are other more deserving players than Wakefield tho, and that he should get on cuz of the red Sux sentiment should automatically NOT put him on, cuz that’s a load of crap. As is this thread.

Bottom line
Do you want Wakefield to help the NL take home field advantage in the World Series just to make a bunch of Sox homers happy?

Thank You
Thank You for proving my point,….let’s review.
Beckett is a lock yet there are at least 6 guys having better seasons. You wouldn’t know that because you don’t watch baseball, you watch the Sox and have no Idea that Verlander, Halladay, Jackson, Greinke, Hernandez, Buehrle, Weaver, Millwood. That’s 7 guys off the top of my head,….but Beckett is a lock?
Morneau, Teixeira, Cabrera and Martinez are all having better seasons than Youkilis, but he’s a lock??
Wakefield is 28th in the AL in ERA and he deserves consideration????
You have no hope!!
I see things you don't see.

I watch the SUx merely
cuz I am in Mass. and I cannot watch the Yankees. Im in college so I have no money so I can’t buy direct TV or any of that crap.
I say that Uterus and Bay are locks because they are frickin locks. I don’t care what team they play for, you are full of shit that these guys don’t deserve to be there.
Wakefield has 10 wins. That usually gets you in regardless of whether you are a leach or not. He doesn’t deserve it, so he shouldn’t get in.
I only say Beckett is a lock cuz I’ve seen the guy be as unhittable as any pitcher for a month. He is a lock cuz aside from strikeouts, him and Verlander have had similar years.
You can look a CC’s stats other than Wins and say that CC deserves to be there too. But wins get you into the AS game as a pitcher. Why, I don’t know.
Youkilis and Tex should be the 2 1B in the game. I hate that dirtbag with a passion, but he’s third in the AL in OPS. You can’t deny that even if its in less AB’s than Tex. If Joe Mauer gets into the AS game regardless of his smaller sample size, Uterus doesn’t have to worry about that.
BTW, Miguel Cabrera is NOT having a better season by any means. Uterus has 60 less AB’s
You can make a case for Beckett not being there, but Id rather see him go and screw up his arm…..
You think that’s bias?
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 4, 2009 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Power Position
Kevin Youkilis has never hit 30 HR and never had 100 RBI. Those numbers are to be EXPECTED fron firstbase. He would be one hell of a shortstop or second baseman, his numbers at first don’t compare to the Pujols and Berkmans, and Morneaus of the world.
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is why you cannot be taken seriously
we ARE ON THE INTERNET!
Click over to yahoo sports, check Uterus’ stats of last year, and he had 29 HR and 115 RBI
IN 145 GAMES TOO!! That should be your little 30 HR plateau in there.
The guy is legit.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
29
is not 30, and I honestly thought he never had 100 rbi,….my bad. I still think he needs more than one great season before I crown him one of the elite. His defense is spectacular, but I think he peeked last year at 30. This is not a young guy who is getting better and who has already had some great seasons. Like a Fielder. Youkilis may have peeked last year and I would choose 10 guys over him. That’s the truth.
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
well considering he's picking up right where he left off
last season, actually he’s better this season, again that’s wrong. His OPS is 1.007 before today, 3rd in the AL. That’s good…..
and…dammit..
Morneau had 23 HR…in 163! games last season. So you really have no point on this guy
But you have a point on th AS game cuz Dustin Pedofile has no buisness in the game and either does Wakefield. Ian Kinsler is not even on the team cuz of that crap.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree
he looks like a late bloomer, and what if he finishes Batiing 280 with 26 HR’s. then what? Would he still be one of the best in your eyes Because he could easily finish with that line.
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He could
but the guy is ahead of all these other guys in OPS.
Does that mean overall he’s better? No, but he’s still up there.
Id take Morneau, Gonzalez, Berkman, Tex (who could end up batting 280 with 40 bombs, but less OPS), over him.
But he’s still up there. Many of those NL guys would be DHing like Howard and Fielder.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm not saying he's bad
He’s a great player. But 1b is the deepest position in the league. The best hitter and biggest slugger, which means Youkilis has to compete with Pujols, and Berkman, and Cabrera, and Martinez, and Teixeira. Come on dude. He’s not on their level. Berkman bats 330 and hits 40 HR’s. Cabrera is still younger than youkilis and has 7 great seasons. Teixeira is every bit the defensive player and drives in more runs to boot.
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 7:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
we are talking about right now
and right now this season, he’s up there.
but yea, other than Cabrera (and Martinez who isn’t a full-time 1B) I would take all over him.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Josh Beckett
Has an AL ERA of 4,10 in 3 and 1/2 seasons, and Pettitte has a lifetime AL ERA of 4.01.
Beckett has just as many games where he gives up 5 runs as he does games where he is unhittable. He is untouchable at times,….but has been inconsistent his entire career. There are at least 10 pitchers I would choose over Beckett if I were starting a team.
Billingsley
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 2:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well name them
I really can’t stand arguing in the Sux favor BTW and after this Im done.
But Halladay, Santana…….anyone else? CC, Lincecum yes. King Felix hasn’t been consistent yet, either has Verlander.
Chad Billingsley? You can honestly say, that if you were starting an actual team, not a bullshit fantasy league team, that you would take Chad Billingsley over Josh Beckett>
Beckett isn’t statistically the 3rd best starter in the GAME!, but Id be hard pressed to find a better big game pitcher.
Im just stating what I see. Wakefield isn’t an all star.
Behind Halladay, Santana, Lincecum and CC, there isn’t another pitcher Id rather have on my team.
OK, Im done arguing in the Sux favor on this.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
AND
I was going to give the list than I was side tracked. As far as consistent Beckett has been anything but! He has had ONE GREAT SEASON. He has been injury prone. He had a 12-10 record with a 5 plus ERA in 06, and wasn’t much better in 08. He is not the tough guy people think he is. It’s blisters and backs and shoulders and it’s a guy who struggles when he does have minor ailments. Josh is a guy who has had stretches of domination and then he’s had poor seasons as well. he’s never lead the league in ERA, he’s never led in IP, never led in K’s, never led in WHIP, never won a cy young, and is NO WAY the 3rd best pitcher statistically. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Look at Ted Lily or John Lackey and you will see numbers just as good over their careers. He has had some super human performances in the post season but his 7-4 all time record is there as well. Please don’t tell me he was hurt last year. He shouldn’t of pitched then. he hurt his team. Unlike schilling who pitched hurt and dominated, if everything isn’t right with Beckett he doesn’t perform well. Don’t tell me he was injured last year and yet at the same time fail to remember that Pettitte pitched over 200 innings in the post season, and you assume he was 100% through all of them. Do you think CC who pitched 250 innings and every third day for a month just to get there,…do you think his arm wasn’t a little tired,….COME ON. The excuses always seem to be for the Sox but for anyone else they are excuses. I saw Josh get rocked in the post season last year. I seen his bad 06 season, I see a mediocre 08 season. I see a 4 plus AL ERA,….i don’t know what you see??
I see things you don't see.

Also
I am not asking for Yankees to be all stars, or begging. I am asking that the players who deserve it go. I never made a case for any Yankee in any thread to be an all star. Youkilis as an all star I can live with. Wakefield is a joke and the only number that’s any good at all is wins and his 6 runs per game run support have EVERYTHING to do with it.
I see things you don't see.

Hint:
PEOPLE FROM BOSTON WILL POUR BEER ON YOUR KIDS AND LAUGH!!! ITS TRUE IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY!!!!!
KEVIN YOUKILIS IS NOT A TOP 10 FIRST BASEMAN!!!!
RED SOX FANS ARE DESTROYING BASEBALL!!!!!
This guy presents no case- ever- for his ridiculous claims. His claims that people from Boston get a thrill out of pouring beer on kids’ heads is more ridiculous than me claiming that all Yankee fans are belligerent child-beaters after seeing a couple of kids almost getting beat up for cheering against the Yankees. Can’t you guys see that this guy is just a die-hard-Boston-hater?

you’re a liar and and a homer. I never said pouring beer over a kids head happens everyday. I seen it happen, but I never said every day. I never said that the Red Sox are destroying baseball either.
As far as youkilisgoes, First base is a POWER POSITION. He has never had 30 HR and never had 100 RBI. There is a case he’s not one of the ten best and I made that case.

He's also a very good fielder
Ryan Howard, Fielder, Cabrera are all not at all good fielders. Berkman is OK, but Fester is right up there with Texiera as far as fielders.
Pujols is obviously the best, Morneau, Tex Uncle Fester as far as overall 1B are all in that top non-Pujols tier.
I hate to admit it, but its true.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You’ve never seen it happen. Stop lying to yourself and others. Its very clear you have a strict agenda on these blogs- to spread lies about Sox fans and make us look bad. I’m not gonna bother arguing anymore, because you’ll just pull out more lies.
Security beat my newborn baby because he was wearing a Yankees hat; my wife got beer bottles smashed over her head for cheering for A-Rod, then was suffocated by the paramedics. Whatever you want to tell yourself.
BTW: On Youk – Ryan Howard, Miguel Cabrera, Carlos Pena, Mark Teixeira, Lance Berkman, Mark Reynolds, and Adrian Gonzalez are not better than him. Not only do his offensive numbers match any of theirs (except for HR, in part due to his time on the DL but not completely), but his defense cannot be matched.
by Charger567 on Jul 5, 2009 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ok that's a bit of homerism
Pena, Tex and Gonzo are all just as good as him in the field. Pena and Tex are probably a level above, and while I haven;t seen much of Gonzo, he DID win a gold glove so that counts for something.
Id take Adrian over Youkilis.
They are pretty comparable as far as their careers, with them both getting everything worked out kind of late. But Id take Adrian over him (tho at Fenway, Uterus is better cuz of that big wall out there).
As far as overall goes, Adrian and Carlos Pena are probably in the same tier and Youkilis.
Texiera and Morneau are a step above overall given their entire bodies of work, and of course Pujols is from another planet.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 3:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Youk is at a higher level than Pena. Adrian is arguable.
I do NOT think that Teixeira and Morneau are on a higher level- they are on the same, if not lower than Youkilis.
Youk’s OPS compared to Teix and Morneau is about 70 and 20 points higher, respectively. And if you’re going to mention Youk’s utilization of the Green Monster, I could point out Teixeira’s shockingly impressive numbers at the New Yankee Stadium. Morneau has the most impressive offensive numbers, but his defense is a notch below that of Teix and Youk’s.
The fact is that half of the 1B in baseball are on the same tier. You really can’t argue that Youk is inferior to any 1B in baseball, except for Albert of course. There is nothing wrong with Youk getting the nod- he is just as good as any 1B in the American League. Being a member of the Sox gave him the edge, yes, but that’s life. Its not like we voted in Julio Lugo- we voted in a top notch first baseman, and its really nothing to complain about.

Tex has always hit
whether its in Texas (good hitters park tho of course), the Angels and the Braves don’t have good hitting stadiums.
Youkilis OPS is immensly affected by that big wall out there. He does hustle, Ill give the dirtbag that, so he gets to second on a lot of those pop fly outs off the wall out there.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 5, 2009 7:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Berkman
Cabrera has played 3 positions and hasn’t been a liability at any of them. Howard is an MVP. Until last year Youkilis never hit more than 16 HR’s in a season, ON ANY LEVEL!!!!
I see things you don't see.
by LouieTheLip on Jul 5, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Berkman OK,
Cabrera is still a liability at 1B because of the same reason at 3B, he eats too much and gets lazy.
Howard is an MVP, but he’s also better suited to DH.
Id take most of these guys over Uterus, but when you look at the guys OPS and his defense being very good, he’s right up there.

KEVIN YOUKILIS IS NOT A TOP 10 FIRST BASEMAN!!!!
Maybe a stretch, top 1B’s Pujols, Howard, Teix, Cabrera, Berkman, Fielder, Morneau, Gonzalez are all better. Pena, VMart, Reynolds, Branyan are listed with higher rankings on Yahoo fantasy, but I’d rather have Youk the molester over them.

Ok internet tough guy, I told you what happened to myself and a friend of mine on separate visits to Fenway. Now if you want further proof beyond what I have told you at the very least acknowledge:
1. the incident with Darling’s wife after game 4
2. Sheffield being hit by several beers in right field and that sox fan who tried to punch him while he was fielding the ball in the corner.
by DustinPedroia aka Keebler Elf on Jul 5, 2009 3:51 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
To this I'll answer, simply:
Shit happens. How about when Papelbon’s pregnant wife was bombarded by insults and threats when parading in Manhattan? People are stupid. Every team has stupid fans- the point is not to generalize, as many of you on this blog do, about a fan base of millions from your experiences with 1 fan.
And no, I don’t believe your story. Simply because anyone with half a brain can see through your lies. Security didn’t laugh at you when beer was poured on you- you can’t even cuss in front of a security guard without being approached. Quite with the fake sob stories and get real.
BTW: I googled the Darling incident, and found nothing. Care to explain? Also, no one tried to punch Sheffield…

"The fan reached over the wall, and Sheffield said he was hit in the face"
The fan would clearly be reaching for the ball, which is not allowed, but hardly an example of barbarism. Sheffield not being able to move on, and shoving the fan seemed more inappropriate to me.
And no, it didn’t happen. Maybe someone accidentally poured sip of beer on you, apologized and moved on, but not what you said. I’m done arguing with you- you can lie your way out of anything which makes this entire discussion pointless.

Internet Tough Guy
Varitek’s liner rolled into the corner and, as Sheffield went to field it, House made a sweeping motion with his arm. Sheffield said he was hit in the mouth.
If you remember this play at all, the ball was rolling on the ground while the “sweeping motion” went towards Sheffield’s head. Sheffield sort of leaned back to avoid the brunt of it, then picked up the ball and threw it. to second after which he shoved the guy back. It’s a shame I can’t find this on you tube.
Yes it happened, the fact you have called me a liar over something of which you have no knowledge whatsoever speaks a lot to your character and the complete lack of sense. Go back to your site, where you ignorant assclowns belong.

I’m sorry I didn’t video record the entire incident to satisfy some piece of garbage passing himself off as an internet “tough” guy, go fuck yourself for calling me a liar.
