Gardner and the OF

The speed demon and defensive warrior bka Brett Gardner has been put on the 15day DL. Sigh. It was mentioned by Michael Kay that the Yanks are examining calling up another OF from Scranton.(No AJax, possibly Shelley Duncan)

Why? I for one don't think its at all necessary. The team still has four players to man the posts in Melky,Damon,Swisher and Hinske. With Damon needing the most rest of the four, shift Swish to left keep Melky in CF and let's see what Hinske has playing a couple consecutive days in RFas needed.

Why call up another guy to clog it up out there? Why not give another reliever a shot? Or an infielder? What's best for the team folks? In your opinions of course.

Shelley would be nice

but a pitcher’s OK to call up, tho I don’t understand what they are doing with Melancon.

You forgot the best option!

Call up cervilli, obviously has nothing to do with the OF, but we have an extra spot on the team, and with these 9 games with no rest, could use him at catcher. I don’t want to see molina catching in 4 of our 9 next games.

1) Why is Molina catching in 4 of 9 games?

and 2) Cervelli can play all 9 positions, it has everything to do with the OF.

Gardner

I’m a quite upset over this. He was starting to roll. It’s only a few weeks but who knows how long it will take for him to start clicking again.

I see things you don't see.

And who's going to be our gritty-gutty, scrappy-scrubby hero now?

Assuming, of course, that it’s not Francisco Cervelli.
