Joba - bust?
Check out this Joba Chamberlain article on www.hardknoxsports.com. It is interesting to debate whether Chamberlain is a bust so far in his young career. Let me know what you guys think. I think it is a good read. While he might be the next best closer, do you guys like him so far as a closer? I think there is a lot of room for debate. At lease he isn't Carl Pavano.

What on earth are you talking about?
What room is there for debate? You mean the fact that he is 23 and still learning to pitch? Maybe his 8k 6.2 innings went under your radar. That when he wants to he still can throw 97 in his later innings? When his control is on he can whiff 7-10 batters a start? He needs to improve his control and his pitch count. He is basically a kid so the upside is tremendous as a starter.

23 is still so so young
i don’t believe we can fully judge him for another couple of years
and Joba HAS shown flashes of brilliance this year
what would have happened if the Royals gave up on Grienke?
Post Season
Growing up with the yankees always making the post season, i save my judgements of players for how he handles the playoffs. I may be taking it for granted that the yankees will get there, especially with last year’s season, but when it comes down to it, i don’t care if Arod has an MVP season, when he slumps in the playoff its a bust for that season. And if Joba goes 6-4 this season with a 4.5 era, but he dominates in the playoffs, then its all worthwhile. Its too early to tell in his career and too early to tell in the season.
wow....
so when he’s mediocre he’s a bust, then he throws a gem and he’s a bust?
Id love to know all the geniuses who were out there who said Zach Grienke was a bust early in his career.
Terrible comprehension of what the word bust means.
You cannot physically be a bust at the age of 23 if you’re a baseball player
Maybe in tennis you can be a bust at 23 because most retire by the age of 26 or so.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
do tennis players really have that short of a shelf life?

Actually, no
But the women tend to retire earlier than the men.
Like basketball and football, at the pro level, tennis is very hard on the body.
If I's known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Casey
Outside of the all time greats, yes.
They start competing professionally at a very young age like 16 or 17. Maybe 26 was a little early but 27 or 28 and you’re considered old.
