For Yankee fans, life is good

With 70 games to play in the regular season, life is as it should be. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are in a dead heat atop the American League East standings. And a Steinbrenner is using the media to make sure his manager knows the score.

The Steinbrenner? Not George, or even Hank (where is Hank, anyway?). It's Hal. Maybe he does have a little, just a little, Boss in him after all.

"Joe knows what's expected of him. It's never changed," Steinbrenner said. "We expect to win every year. Joe knows who he's working for. Joe knows the organization as good as anyone. He knows what's expected of him and he expects that of himself. ...

"I believe we have a team that can win the championship,"

First place. Public reminders to the manager that if he doesn't win, he's gone. Ahhhhh ... on a July day, it doesn't get much better in Yankee-land.

I hate to quibble...

…but it gets much better than a tie for first in late July.

Like, first place on the last day of the season, and spraying champagne 3 weeks later.

Well ... I know that

But, that is why I said ‘on a July day, it doesn’t get much better.’ Reading comprehension, SJ. Back to English class for you, my friend. LOL!!

I realized that afterwards...

…hoping you wouldn’t.

Damn you and your commas and proper grammar and sentence structure.

Hank to Hideki to helmet tosses

Yea, where is that guy? I don’t remember hearing much from him since his opposition to pitchers hitting in the NL after Wang went out last year. He quipped a lil in the offseason, but I have not heard a peep during 09.

But I remember guys maybe about a month ago it was doomsday in Yankeeland for alot of us. But after some “quality” wins, the moxy is back. When we solve the two thorns known as Boston and LA it’ll be even more encouraging. Happy for Matsui last night. Haven’t seen much passion from him all year! (at least on the field)

Funny to see the jump and scramble after the helmet flip. Looked like a bouquet toss! Melky caught it,so I’ll be waiting for his walkoff hit next! LOL

For even more fun...

Read the Red Sox discussion board on yesterday’s game. If you have the time, start from the beginning and skim through. The comments get more and more delirious.

HAHAHAHA

Buccholz and Lars should be able to pry Adrian Gonzalez away from SD. I guess yankee fans aren’t the only ones who over value prospects.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

its hilarious

how they make fun of Yankee fans for doing such ignorance.

Bucholz is good, Lars Anderson too, but its not like Adrian Gonzalez is all that old…

No way that happens

Not to mention

he’s signed for 4.75 mil in 2010 and 5.5 mil in 2011. That’s ridiculous. If he didn’t play in the grand canyon he’d probably hit 50 homers.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

I don’t know why Hal felt the need to comment on this – seems a bit out of place.

Nevertheless, maybe it’s so Girardi doesn’t get lazy like Torre seemed to do. I blame Girardi for the sweep against the Angels. The decision to start Aceves against the Twins was terrible. Eventhough the Yankees got the win, it totally depleted the bullpen for that weekend. The Yankees could be at least games up right now.

It's a long season

Isn’t it amazing how a team’s fortune changes from week to week. After the
Angel’s series things looked bleak.Five games later the Yankees made up four games on Boston and things look great.THERE is still a great deal of the season left. A rough road trip starts next week. Let’s see how things look in September. We still need to improve the starting rotation GO YANKS!!!
