Do we need to add a pitcher?

Do you guys think we should trade for a starter?  You can never have too much pitching.  So with the Joba struggling in his first year.  Wang injured and on the DL, and Pettitte starting to show his age.  I think that we should pick someone up to help the back of the rotation.  As for Andy, he was not very good at all during the second half last year.  I just hope it was do to injury, not fatigue. Sergio Mitre might be the guy, but I am hoping for a little better.  We could pick up a quality bullpen arm and move Ace into the rotation.  Im not sure what the answer is, I just feel we are one or two arms short right now.   By the way Doc is not going to happen.  If it did Phil Hughes and/or Joba would be gone and we still would have a hole to fill.

Oh, by the way I am in Australia at the minute maybe we should pick up some of their Cricket batters.  The score of the game on now is 674- 435 and its not over yet.  Its a crazy game.

This is why the deadline is 7/31

we don’t know yet.

Andy and Joba have been pretty suck their last 2 outings, but before that they were pretty good.

CC and AJ are doing their thing, and that 5th spot is in question tho with the break now we’ll get CMW back in a bit, so we’ll see what goes on with him.

If this is the way these guys look, I could see a deal, just not for halladay of course cuz it would create too many holes and wipe out the farm.

I could see an Ian Snell being picked up cuz the Pirates insist on being the AAA team for all of baseball.

I don't want to see CMW until spring

Let him come in strong and rebuild his confidence.

Still I say stand pat.

If I's known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Casey

My opinion

Is they need another starter and out Joba in the pen. The bullpend needs help, clearly. See if trading Hughes’ spot with Joba’s will do anything. If Hughes’ game is better than joba switch them. They need to do something because Joba just isnt cutting it as a releiver.

YES … With a 4.54 Team ERA …counting CMW horrible start …this is not a CHampionship staff ….! IF YOU CANT add Doc …Bedard … Lee or another starter should be avail to send Joba to the bullpen ….CC..AJ..starter number 3 to be named…Andy with Hughes AND JOBA in the bullpen should solidy the staff and make us dangerous in Oct…without another arm and NO MARTE is not that arm … I see another 1st rd exit in hand..

2 Players we could use.

We need to make at trade for an OF’er I would like to see us pick up Pierre form the Dodgers. I think we could get him for Matsui, and it sure would turn the tables when we play the Angels. We do need another starter, but not Halladay. I think we should go after Josh Johnson he’s only 25. If the Yanees can get Bruney and Marte right, our BP will rival anyone elses including the Blosox.

Pierre

I guess would be a nice addition, but I don’t see what he does better than Brett Gardner?

And Josh Johnson wouldn’t cost all that less than Halladay. Like you said, he’s 25. The marlins I don’t think are going in fire sale mode either with this team B/C they have their new stadium soon, and that will = fans.

Johnson would cost at least Montero and McAllister. No.

First of all, Joba isn’t struggling. He’s actually pitching really well considering his age and that this is his first full year as a starter. Don’t let guys like King Felix fool you, pitchers aren’t usually consistent until 26ish. I wouldn’t mind making a move for a 5th starter, but not something that will cost us any of our top prospects. Really, though, I feel like we’re gunna make the playoffs anyway even if we don’t pick someone else up, and we aren’t going to need a 5th starter in the playoffs anyway.
