Yanks at Angels: Rebound
New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels, Jul 11, 2009 4:10 PM EDT
Momentum is only as good as the next day's starting pitcher, right?
Andy Pettitte faces an Angels team (.282/.346/.435) that resembles the Blue Jays (.272/.339/.434) team that smacked him around for six earned in his last outing.
You know you're in trouble when you find yourself wishing that Vlad Guerrero's .290/.319/.416 were in the lineup.
Meanwhile, All-Star snub (Tim Wakefield, really?) Jered Weaver has been impressive. He's already thrown 114 innings to a 1.13 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .282 OBP. Seriously, the league hits like Francisco Cervelli against this guy.
Hopefully, Jered will remember that he's a Weaver, and revert to his career form against the Yanks- 1.46, 28IP in 5 starts, 12 BB, and 9HR, a .565 slugging.

Guys have hit Weaver like Cervelli?
The only guy to hit like Cervelli this season is this guy

Another instance
where instant replay would be useful. That 20th century seems to be calling.

Out by half a step. The inning should be over. Andy shouldn’t have to throw his next pitch.

Was it legal for Tex to reach in like that?
If its not I guess having him safe is better than him on second.
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 11, 2009 4:30 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It’s a tricky rule. Tex has to get the ball- I think Figgins should have slid, like on a double play.

yea no doubt,
I doubt fault Figgins at all tho, its all the 1st base coach on that.
I don’t like the judgment call, but it did look like Tex was blocking him with his arm.

One-trick pony
Same joke every day. Oh sorry, two trick pony. I forgot about the sarcastic “FIRE GIRARDI” post you do.
I guess it’s funny when your starting pitchers don’t get out of the 5th inning and your manager can’t manage his way out of a paper bag.

speak for yourself
and who’s the one that didn’t ‘get’ your hilarious jokes from the other day? so you’re allowed to be funny, but not FB.

Difference is...
…I’m actually funny, and don’t give a fuck if anybody else realizes it. Not going to keep me awake for even an extra second.
FB runs the same stupid joke out there every day and thinks he’s being insightful. Oooh, "I’m going to send a starter to the bullpen to counter the logical “Joba sucks as a starter” argument.
He should call Carrot Top. At least he’s trying to do original material.

Same old story against these guys
Some things never change. Yankees take the lead, Angels come back. We’ve all seen how this ends.
And Abreu is absolutely killing us. Guy is around .390 with RISP. At least we have Nick Swisher hitting .212 in those spots.

You don't have to be psychic...
…just a student of recent baseball history to know that the Yankees are the Angels’ bitches.
This game is over. Way to go into the All-Star game with some momentum, jackasses.

Everyones FAVORITE reliever is warming up….

Oh, by the way
This is all happening and the Angels are missing Hunter and Vlad from the middle of their order.
by New York Sports Jerk on Jul 11, 2009 6:32 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Oh sorry...
…I guess it’s not a bad sign to have given up 18 runs in 15 innings to a team missing their two best offensive players.
Carry on.

Yeah, get psyched!
Only a 3 run deficit in the 7th inning after having a 4-0 lead! Woo!!!

Lose the "holier than thou" thing
Nobody is impressed.
I’m still watching the game, I’m just not going to get wood because they managed to make this semi-respectable in the late innings after crapping the bed in the 5th and 6th.
“BOOOOOMMMMM BITCH!” is for home runs that are actually going to make a difference in the game.

I told you guys
getting Hinske was a waste of a roster spot.
Doesn’t look too good now.

Gee, what a shock
The Yankees get back into the game (sort of) and Girardi leaves Tomko in there.
Who didn’t see a home run coming?

Thanks Robertson and Tomko.

by Yankz09 on Jul 11, 2009 7:04 PM EDT via mobile reply actions 0 recs
is that a trick question? or do u just want me to say we’d be 1 run closer?

what the hell is wrong with you?
where do you come across saying Joba has a drinking problem and that’s why we need to trade him?
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 11, 2009 9:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Whoa, dude!
That’s incredibly irresponsible to throw around accusations like that. Plus, that kind of trade is just crazy talk. It isn’t happening. I love Saratoga, dude, but you’ve been drinking too much of that crappy-tasting spring water.
