The NY Yankees without Mark Teixeira

It can not be argued the return of A-Rod has been a major boost to both the Yankees and Mark Teixeira, but what if it where the other way around. What if Mark Teixeira had missed the first month of the season instead of Alex.

Star-divide

Fortunately for Yankee fans this is not the case and this Yankee team is not the same as last years horrific showing. With Mark Teixeira securing the 3-hole in the lineup the Yankees have shown an incredible ability to come from behind time and time again. With the exception of Wangs early starts even the Yankees loses have been close games. In the 4-2 lost to Texas that Teixeira did not play in A-Rod left five men on base, and in the 5-4 loss to the Indians Teixeira had all 4 Yankee RBIs. With a shakey bullpen Texiera has Yankee fans staying positive in late innings when the game is in reach and they see he is coming up. A three run double in yesterdays 8-6 win drives that point even more. With the Yankees standing at 32-22, atop the AL East, its certain they wouldnt be as good without A-Rod, but where would they stand without Mark Teixeira?

Half the credit should be given to Alex Rodriguez

I agree with everything you said just as soon as A-rod came back that is the moment Texiera caught fire. You have to give half the credit to A-rod because when he wasnt there Tex wasnt hitting at all; i believe it was around the mendoza line to be exact. Now he is a full 100 points higher on his batting average; A-rod’s prescence alone has lifted this team just from a phychological stand point.

be thanklful for Tex

Theo hasn’t made a ton of mistakes since taking over in Boston, but low-balling Teixeira was a huge gaffe. if you take him off the Yankees and put him in the middle of that Sox lineup to replace Shaun Alexander David Ortiz, then the Sox would be running away with things.

Tex has played better

But he has only played well since A-rod got back. Lineup protection has been crucial to Tex’s success.

I think a day off

for Alex is merited soon, so maybe we’ll see how Tex does in that game to get a bit of a litmus as to if its really A-Rod’s aura that has him doing this or he’s really on his own.

A-Rod’s presence behind him is a large reason why Tex starting hitting when he came back. When A-Rod was on the DL, people were pitching around Tex, so he wasn’t getting good pitches to hit. Now, nobody wants to pitch to A-Rod even though he’s not himself yet, so they’re going after Tex and he’s seeing more hittable pitches.
