Hey, Yankees -- you need to score to win!
Hey, Yankees. The thing pictured above is called home plate. You need to cross it to win games. Enough said!

A SHUTOUT!
I mean you can’t even be encouraged by Wang’s excellent start. YOu also can’t even be mad at what the reason was for taking him out? 62 pitches?
I mean Id think anyone can see another 15 run game in the near future (hopefully today). But who the hell cares? A win is a win, but you need to consistently score runs, especially when the pitching has done nothing but pitch at least well enough to win.
You can’t rely on one or the other. Pitching can be good, but they aren’t gonna throw 1 R games all the time (3-Runs seems like the norm these past few weeks).
And you can’t hit(yea, the team was hitting a few weeks ago….) and have no pitching, cuz it doesn’t matter how many runs you score.
This is about as frustrating 2 weeks of baseball can get. Should be winning these games, they are in position to win these games, but they keep leaving runners on.
The only thing you can take out of this is that its really nothing different than what happened in the championship years. They had slumps too where either the pitching or hitting was clicking and the other wasn’t.
I mean I’ll say it until the AS break, there’s still 1/2+ a season to go, all is not lost. But if I was a bit older Id probably notice a few more gray hairs when watching these past few weeks.
June Swoon
The Yanks should be crowned the masters of under achievement. If it wasn’t for the 11of 13 win streak they wouldn’t be on the playoff radar. Fortunately, they have plenty of time to turn things around. They are playing without any passion of emotion. They need a good swift kick in the derriere. I don’t think Girardi is the man to do it.
It is not entirely Girardi’s fault, these guys are pros and the passion has to come from within.
I have been a Yankees fan since the days of King Kong Keller and Johnnie Lindell and always was impressed with their passion for the game, even in the down years of the late 60’s and 70’s.
playoff radar?
It’s June…
You’re right about one thing- Girardi has shown he can’t manage worth a damn.
And to throw salt in the wounds
that team that plays near the end of Route 90 is beating the crap out of these same NL East teams (except the mighty Mets of course…). When they get runners on in the late innings, they score 6 runs while the Yanks score 0.
So this whole thing on offense started
with that loss versus Beckett. Can one loss to that pitcher get into a team’s collective psyche and send them into a slump?
george
let me tell you what george did as many of us seen it all, he tried to put winners out there every year, he wanted to win every year, he made some horrendous moves but we won in 77,78, in the ws in 76 and 81 and you know the rest in the 90’s….we had the third best record, i believe, in the 80’s….so george won for us, as the players and managers, its easy to attack george and second guess trading some great young players and all but we did win and that is more than 80% of the rest of the league can say during that strecth who are ok with 1 WS every 10 years or coming in 3rd, as an upgrade from 4th
If you don;t think
that this regime is trying to put winners out there, I suggest you go ahead at look who’s actually on the team.
If you ‘try to put a winner’ out there and they play like this, well this is what happens. If this team was playing up to its potential, they all look like geniuses.
I highly doubt that this Yankee team was assembled with the idea that they wouldn’t be able to hit and win games.
And if you look at the winning % this decade (Post championships) the team has won. Its not like those 80’s teams where they were crap and didn’t win. This team is not winning WS, and its only the spoiled fans that believe the WS is a birthright that get upset.

winners vs warriors
are these winners, maybe they once were, maybe they still are…good point on the WS…honestly, I know its crazy to think WS ever year but lets focus on this team, they sjhould be 15-2 games over .500 by now….it has to be the coaching, lack of planning, strategy…i mean can they all be in this funk at once….not enough warriors on this team, i really thought swish would be that man, but there is a reason he was let go by Chicago I guess…I dont know, I am really lost this morning on everything now…geez, I may have to work now….
One of the issues I see is the teams of this decade are largely independant as teammates go.
I don’t see the kind of camaraderie and togetherness of the winning teams in the 90s.
That boils down to leadership- captain and coaching staff.
