cody

Cody Ransom's stint on the 60-day disabled list will end Wednesday.

At that time, the Yankees will either have to add him to the major league roster or designate him for assignment and risk losing him. He can definitely be used on the days Alex Rodriguez needs off each month, but that might not warrant a spot on the 25-man roster. Ransom hit .180/.226/.320 as A-Rod's replacement during the first month of the season.

I am not a big Cody fan, I know, how odd, but upgrade from Berrora and best as bench player anyway, too much was asked of him early on, we shall see.

Why?

Pena is more than capable of playing 3B/SS/2B to cover off days. Get rid of Berroa and Cody, bring up Duncan. I want to see his bat in the bandbox.

Him and Swisher

together would make some kind of crazy 80’s WWF Tag Team.

against the road warriors....main event

hawk slams swish with a pile driver, 3 count, done deal!

I like Pena

and I also have no clue why Shelley’s not up with the team, but Ransom takes the place of Berroa plain and simple.

Shelley should come up and DH tho, I have no idea what they’re waiting for.

He is killing it down in Scranton

He is hitting .300 with 21 homers. WHY THE F**K is he not up here?

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Jun 23, 2009 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he ALWAYS kills it in SWB..

I love Shelley, but he’s at best an average ML player. That said, I wouldn’t mind having his power and energy coming off the bench.

I say bye bye to Berroa and Cody.

.300

and 21 dingers = bring up now

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Jun 23, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

whether or not you believe it

there are AAAA players. Kill it in AAA but not much in MLB.

I think Shelly could come up and hit more than a few bombs. People always talk about RF in the new stadium as the short porch, but its really not like LF is like old Yankee stadium.

Still, he derves to be up here. I just thinks its that he’s really nothing but a DH. I think he’ll be better DH than Matsui tho.

dunc of the bench is good too

he does have the bat for that righty off bench

Major League curveballs

That’s the reason he’s not up here. He can’t hit them.

He’s like the white Pedro Cerrano, minus the Voodoo.

Once again

.300 and 21 dingers in AAA = bring up now

If his production drops, well you can send him back down. But with that many home runs you need to get him in. Who is he displacing? Berroa? Can Berroa even hit a ML fastball?

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Jun 23, 2009 4:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

We've already seen...

…what Duncan is capable of in the major leagues. He got hot right away when pitchers were throwing him nothing but fastballs, then after they adjusted he didn’t make contact for weeks.

He’s a 29-year-old career minor leaguer, and I’ve already told you the reason he’s not up with the big club, he’s not a major league hitter.

And I have no idea why Berroa is still here, but he does at least have a defensive position.

by New York Sports Jerk on Jun 23, 2009 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So then what is the point of keep him in AAA?

If you look at his minor league stats this is by FAR his best season. MAYBE he learned to be a more patient hitter. Maybe he deserves a shot considering who he would be replacing has done nothing.

Duncan can't play the field

The Yankees have a million DHs. What role do you expect Shelley Duncan to play on this team?

The point of keeping him at AAA is that he’s an AAA player.

If you bring Duncan up, you’re left with one backup infielder. Should I go on?

by New York Sports Jerk on Jun 23, 2009 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am sorry

You mean Duncan isn’t an all-star corner outfielder like Matsui? Damon or Swisher? We only have 1 good defensive outfielder right now and thats Melky. We have 2 backup infielders right now, one of which plays about an inning every 2 weeks. You have Damon with a bum calf, you have Matsui with bum knees, and Nady with a bum arm. I would rather risk being short 1 extra backup infielder and bring Duncan in until Nady is ready. In am EMERGENCY you can have Tex play third and Swish at first in case Jeter and A-Rod go down in a single game. Berroa is wasting space and offers NOTHING except to play the field in a catastrophe. Sorry, right now with the way the park is playing, I want to see what Duncan can do. Duncan can play RF when Tex needs a day off and Swish can play first. Duncan can DH against a lefty.

Here's what happened...

You fell in love with Shelley Duncan during a two week period in 2007, and now you’re blind to all his faults.

What the hell is Shelley Duncan going to do to help this team? Strikeout? They’ve got guys to do that already. And they have a million OF/DH types.

Berroa is going to be off the roster once Ransom comes back. Who else are you going to take off the roster to make room for Duncan?

I appreciate your blind love for Shelley Duncan, but he’s not a major league hitter and never will be. If you want to watch him every day, move to Scranton.

Blind love?

Avg .296
OBP. 373
SLG .641
OPS 1.014
HR 21
Strike out % way down this season

Maybe you have blind hate?

You're giving me AAA numbers

They are meaningless at the major league level.

There’s a reason Shelley Duncan is in AAA at 29 years old. I’m not going to attempt to reason with you because you don’t care.

I like Shelley Duncan, I enjoyed his HR barrage a few years ago, but he’s not a major league hitter.

Avg. .221
OBP .299
SLG .435
OPS .734
HR 8
RBI 23

5 of his 8 HRs came in his first 8 major league games. And you still haven’t told me who you’d remove from the roster to make room for Duncan.

If you read my post

Which clearly you didn’t I told you who. Since you didn’t bother. I am done with this.

Shelley's not a bad OF actually

I don;’t think he has much range, but if you stick him in right with any combination of Damon Melky and Gardner that would compensate for that.

He’s got a decent arm too.

I think its more to do with the Yankees having a ton of OF (and of course DH) and not enough IF.

I’ve said it before, if Shelley was at least able to play 3B he’d be on the team a long time ago.

by FreeBradshaw on Jun 23, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOL..

Shelley want to BAT!

by FreeBradshaw on Jun 23, 2009 6:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

damons out tonight

Johnny Damon was held out of the lineup Tuesday evening in an effort to protect his ailing right calf.
Melky Cabrera is in left field, Brett Gardner is in center and Nick Swisher is in right. Damon’s calf has now cost him two games, but it sounds like the Yankees are still treating it as a minor injury. Look for him Wednesday.
