Yankees 5, Marlins 1: So, that's how it's done
Argh! The Yankees could have been beating up on these no-name pitchers all along. Seems all they needed to do was get the slugging duo of Angel Berroa and Andy Pettitte into the lineup!
Seriously, nice to see the Yanks take care of business -- finally -- against an unknown pitcher. Even if it did take key hits Berroa and Pettitte.
Pettitte's best pitching performance in weeks -- seven solid innings marred only by a solo home run -- was also cause for celebration.
All-in-all, a good night for the Yanks. Especially with the Red Sox getting pounded by Atlanta.

Even with Pettitte's hit
I can’t stand watching the pitchers hit in NL style baseball. There’s really nothing good about putting our pitchers in unnatural positions and look at what happened to CMW. God would I love for the NL to come around and get a DH.

Chances are
The NL will never adapt the DH. I would just like it so that in Interleague play, all games used a DH for both sides, not just the ones in AL parks. Most NL teams already have a more than serviceable bench player to pinch hit late in games anways, so using a DH would hardly be a stretch for them.

While as a Yankees fan I wouldn't mind that
I really can’t see the NL teams agreeing to use the DH in their parks in interleague play. In the vast majority of cases, any AL team is going to get a larger offensive boost from having a DH instead of having the pitcher bat. It just doesn’t make sense for an NL team to invest the same kind of money in their 9 position player/batter that an AL team would, as that player is going to be primarily a pinch hitter, and not a player with a regular spot in the lineup.

However
I don’t want to be a party pooper, cause a win is a win and it was a solid win. Good hitting early and good pitching throughout. Still too many runners left on base. They should have had 7 tonight. It still defies logic that cano can be a good hitter and hit so poorly with RISP. 2nd and 3rd in the fifth with no outs and he k’s. Then Melky walks and Berroa flies out, leaving Pettite to make the final out. If the game had been close it might have come back to bite us in the ass. Then again if the Yanks don’t hit into 3 double plays tonight, two of which were followed by two 2-out singles, we score a few more runs. I’ve always felt execution is important NO MATTER what the score. I know that there’s always someone out there trying to make you fail and we’re all human, so failure is natural. Opposing pitchers don’t just throw cookies up there with RISP, but the current average with RISP (260 before tonight) has to go up at least 10 points by the end of the year in order to guarantee a playoff spot. If that happens we’ll run away with the wild card or win the division; if not it’ll be a battle till the end and we’ll have anything but a peaceful summer.

can we have Pettite only start on the road?
or maybe push the new walls back 15 feet
either will do

Pushing the walls back 15 feet would be the stupidest thing they ever did and it will never happen (unless Tim McCarver was the owner)!!!
