Tough one last night
I know Cano has been good so far this year but was I the only one who saw that coming. Usually the hitter wins that one after fouling a few off but it was like slow motion. They said he was not running hard down the line, I didn’t see but the last few strides and it did show the Cano Trot. Why wasnt A-Rod running on the picth, was he? These are the games we have to win and every time I look up, I see the Sox just winning, different ways in winning too. Something is missing this year and I am usually hard on this team from every angle but seriously something is missing. I think it’s a lack of discipline. Melkey should not be diving for that ball, he should know better by now, he’s not a rookie. I have said this before, we have a god team, but not the greatest of coaches, they don’t seem to be instilling discipline into these guys. Championship teams are disciplined at the plate, field , running the base paths and roaming the outfield. Swisher has looked like a clown in right jumping after balls 5 foot above his glove. There is no situational hitting either, god forbid we bunt also, the Mick bunted! I know, I know, broken record here... I really don’t see what Matsui brings to the game anymore, groundballs to short just don’t get me excited anymore, maybe the occasional pop up to third, he has to GO now, make Posada the full time DH, too many passed balls and his throws to second are not fun to watch, though Pena dropped a good one last night and ok, let Cervelli and Molina do the catching. Back to the coaches, they really have to go, how a few rookie pitchers can make this team look bad is beyond me, since last summer we have heard them say, “He had his best stuff tonight against us” or “He was throwing strikes all night”, so good, hit the darn ball, its what your getting paid to do.
Anywya, what are your thoughts where we are right now and what needs to be done to make it to October?

Im with you dawg.........
it just seems like something is missing. Its already hard enough to ignore the bad defensive play in the outfield, the 2 rookies (righty and lefty) that shut us down within 5 days, the weak hitting w/RISP etc, etc. But Im not sure Im feeling Girardi at the moment. Its my opinion that it wouldn’t kill him to show some intensity after a tough loss or a loss that they shouldn’t suffer. This team is way too good on paper to take some of the losses that they do. In the AL East this year, a team can’t afford to win less than 96 or 98 games. I just think the time has come to let out some kind of statement to the rest of the division to let them know we ain’t goin out like 07.

or 08 (which I needed therapy for) my shrink said not to bring it up
Step 1. A stable pen
Step 2. More length from a starter not named Carsten Charles
Step 3. A lil’ small ball-some steals(besides Gardner), some suicide squeezes
Step 4. Way better D in the outfield

exactly my point
intensity, small ball, tighten up on 0-2 counts…i would love to know how many runners we left at third this year with less than 2 outs…i am afraid to fin out as i would break another remote
i totally agree with a must win of 96/98 games…anything less and their playing cards with the 0’s
