The New Reply to "Joba in the pen!" Posts

I hearby put forth the suggestion that any more calls for Joba in the pen should be commented on with, and only with, the precious words of our GM, Cashmoney (graciously provided by Eddie V):

"That's all crap," he said. "Wake up and smell the coffee. If he's on national television on ESPN and throws 91 on the 22nd pitch, why would you think if he comes in in the eighth inning protecting a 4-3 lead [he'd throw 96]? Stop, he's a starter.''

It's tiring to hear the same arguments over and over again, and I think it's time to stop giving them merit.  Hopefully, seeing a FanPost commented on with nothing but this quotation will get the point across.  Here's to Joba!

If that doesn't prove he's a starter

I don’t know what does. The guy’s 23. What 23 year old comes out and pitches complete games, let alon quality starts night in and out?

Hughes doesn’t do it, there’s no talk about moving him.

What about non-Yankees? DIce-K can’t get out of the 5th inning since he came to MLB, why not make him a setup-guy?

Just cuz the Red- Sux did it with Papelbon, doesn’t mean the Yankees have to do it with Joba.

Agreed

Hey ‘Yankee’ fans, leave Joba alone. He belongs in the starting rotation. Thats where’s he’s pitched all his career. He has 4 great pitches!!! How many guys can you say that about?

He will NOT be the next Mariano Rivera. Mo has a great money pitch—the cut fastball. Joba has just heat. He will BURN OUT if thats what he uses all the time. Do you want another Joel Zumaya?

Leave Joba alone and stop this obsessive clamoring already! Its so ANNOYING and its exactly this nonesense which makes playing in NY so difficult!

How about we issue a moratorium on this topic?

Please?

I was almost gleeful when people started the “Jorge should DH more” debate, because it would mean less time and space devoted to this useless subject.

Seriously, this “debate” is so unbearable it’s making whales beach themselves.

the only problem with that idea

is that Jorge should DH more makes pretty much no sense too. I think having him DH is a good thing, like a catch 3-4 games, rest one, DH one, then come back, something like that.

but primarily having Jorge as a DH

and making Cervelli/Molina your primary catcher? Defeats the purpose of having a good hitting catcher like Jorge.

The Last Thing I Will Say On This

Joba only pitched out of the bullpen in 07 by NECESSITY. It wasn’t what the organization had in mind for their TOP pitching prospect (Hughes was already up).

He is the victim of his own success as a setup man. He has one job – at least until the playoffs – and that’s to start every 5th day.
