A little Red Sox news you might enjoy

MLB has adjusted its drug policy to allow David Ortiz to use steroids. The Commissioner commented:

"What David is doing right now is wrong, and this season could damage his reputation forever. The game of baseball needs him to do the responsible thing and superhumanly whack balls over the fence whenever possible."

- In a related story, Jon Papelbon threw a towel (and missed) at a NY Post cameraman moments after this photo was taken.

THAT IS AWESOME

best…. pitcher…. ever….

i especially love this quote from the article:

“Causi contrasted Papelbon’s behavior with that of Yankee closer Mariano Rivera. The fotog recalled taking a picture of Rivera last month at Fenway Park just after the ace reliever blew a save against Boston.

“He knew I was shooting him, and he didn’t say a word,” Causi said. “A true champion realizes you got to take the good with the bad.” "

A player’s true character is shown on their worst days, Rivera is an Ace on days he strikes out the side and on days he blows a game.

exactly what I said

And my Red Sox fan wife (don’t ask how we manage) pointed out I’d love him if he were on the Yankees. I told her he’d still be a d-bag.

This is what Gammons would call "gritty",

It’s seems like Papelbon was lacking command when he tossed the towel, similar to his pitching performance. Is there a bigger crybaby in MLB? Recall his reaction to the parade held prior to the All-Star game last season, sobbing inconsolably about how he and his wife felt “threatened” along the route.

They should put a pacifier on the mound for him right alongside the rosin bag.

Relievers

Marino Rivera is in a class by himself, not only as one of the greatest relievers of all time, but also one of the best gentleman of all time. There will never but someone as great as him.

What a D-Bag
This kind of stuff is what Jr. High School players do, not professional ball players. Grow some balls Papelbon.

Like the Fans

Moving to Massaachusetts has been a nightmare when it comes to sports talk. I never thought I would ever say this,…… I MISS THE MET FANS.

I see things you don't see.

P and P

It’s amazing to me how success has quickly turned the Sox into a bunch of whiners. The need to take a step back and be grateful for what they have done rather than walk around like they are owed something.

Papbelbon can pitch but has always acted like a baby to me. Was listening to the Met game the other night on the radio in the bottom of the 9th and they said he came out of the dugout after a close play that they called the Sox out on. This was after giving up the 2 run homer. At first I was shocked and then I wasn’t. The best way to describe him is to say he acts like most Sox fans.

The best way to shut him up is to beat him. I am looking forward to the next Yankee/Sox series.

Paps

The league is already starting to figure him out. Before no one would get on against him. Now he is letting men on base in the 9th and barely squeaking by for the save. That said, he has good stuff. He just needs to learn about staying in himself. He is still a d-bag though.
