Yankees 7, Twins 6: Now we're rolling
A six-spot in the first inning, and our New York Yankees have now won six straight.
They are a season-high four games above .500.
Only saw a little of the game -- season finale of '24' was on my plate. But, another great win. I will be sorry to see the Twins leave town.

A-Rod's return
8-2 in 10 games back. Hitting just .188 but 4 HR and 10 BB. That’s just presence – the real production is still to come.

You can tell by watching the pitches Texiera gets to hit
When he was going bad, it was nothing but breaking balls. Now he gets plenty of fastballs and he’s killing them.
I wonder if teams will just figure out to walk Tex and A-Rod so Swisher will just strike out or ground out. Damn has he fallen off

Say what you want about A-Rod
but it’s no coincidence to me that the Yankees and Tex’s bat have gotten hot.
*As a loyal fan of 24, the second half of the season and its finale was a bit of a disappointment after the first half started so strongly. Jack Bauer is now a vegetable. The First Family’s storyline was written so poorly.

24
I enjoyed most of it. As for the ending, you know where it’s going. Jack will, of course, be fine. The empire must continue.

24 pt deux
I know the last show of the season is supposed to lead into the next, but they left a lot of loose ends compared with other seasons. I kept thinking they were going to go past 10:00.
I have the feeling they are grooming the Renee Walker character to replace Jack if Sutherland walks or has (more) legal problems.

We're not even healthy
Once we get Wang back and he’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing, then our pitching will be set. Phil Hughes will go to the bullpen and we’ll going to get our best pen arm in bruney back. Soon we’re going to posada back. Tex is going to continue to stay hot and Backtime tv is right A-rod’s swing isn’t even right yet. I like this lineup.
jeter
damon
tex
a-rod
posada
matsui
swisher
cano
cabrera
to go along with sabathia pitching great and burnet doing well

Hughes is going to AAA
Aceves will stay as the long man in the pen
we can’t hurt Hughes development by using him in clean-up

very true
there’s no way Hughes goes back to the pen.
He has to go to AAA and start. YOu never know when you’ll need another starter again.

Hughes
I agree that Hughes will probably go back to AAA, but I would like to see him stay in the majors in the pen. At this point he has no trouble in AAA and he just cruises along. What he really needs is to face ML level pitching every day and learn how to battle and get tough. He could do that as the long man. I think it’d be the best place for him to develop and would help the ML club to boot.

No not at all
having him as the long man is the WORST possible spot for him.
the Long man rarely pitches, they only come in when the team is getting blown out and the starter is out early. Rarely do they get other chances.
Yea, Phil can handle AAA batters, but that’s not the point. Its keeping his arm in starter shape and keeping him on a starter’s cycle.
Id love to have him as the Yankees new version of Ramiro Mendoza, but the reality is the Yankees expect bigger things out of Hughes, as in to be a future ace of the staff. There is no reason to have him as the long man if he’s gonna do that.

Swisher should sit on the bench
Give Gardner a chance and sit Swishers cold as ice bat

Agreed
Except that if you read the reports Gardner was not available last night due to a shoulder contusion suffered in the play at the plate w/Mauer.

Twins demand respect
Best part of this sweep was it happened against the Twins, an exceptionally worthy opponent. Three walk-off wins and a one run game against an incredible middle of the line-up team with surprisingly strong pitching. If this had been against a truly weak team we’d all still be wondering if it was real. but this was very, very real and the first encouraging sign of the season. Next test is if Yanks let down against O’s or bury them like a champion. Bring it on.

Aubrey Huff
Joba is starting the last game of the set. Be interesting to see if there’s anything still simmering there. The game situation will dictate that of course. If the Yankees are up 6-0, there’s no reason to antagonize anyone, but if Joba gets rocked, I could see him make Huff skip a little rope.

How can this guy call himself a yankee fan when he watches 24 over the game.
How can this guy call himself a yankee fan when he watches 24 over the game. Clearly not a true fan.
