Bad night ... and now the really bad news
The New York Yankees lost more than the game on Friday night.
Struggling No. 2 starter Chien-Ming Wang was put on the disabled list with bad hips, third baseman Cody Ransom left the game in the eighth with a quadriceps injury that landed him on the DL, and set-up man Brian Bruney was home in New York ready for today's test on his cranky right elbow.
Right-hander David Robertson was recalled to take Wang's spot on the roster and Phil Hughes likely will be recalled to take his spot in the rotation on Tuesday against the Tigers; Angel Berroa likely will take Ransom's spot; and the Yankees have their fingers firmly crossed Bruney's elbow problem isn't serious.
Yikes!! A long-term injury to Bruney would be devastating to the Yankee bullpen -- and would certainly renew calls for Joba Chamberlain to go back to the setup role. The other items aren't as big a deal. I do feel bad for Ransom. He hasn't played particularly well, but was getting his first real shot at age 33. I'm sure it hasn't worked out the way he hoped.

Am I the only person who is shocked
that it took the Yankees 3 horrible starts to realize Wanger hadn’t pitched for 8 months and might need more time to rebuild his arm strength?
What were they doing in the extended spring training?
Go sightseeing with A-Rod?
