Why Nick Swisher Is a Godsend for A-Rod
Now we all know how much of a polarizing person Alex Rodriguez can be, and all of us in the Bronx are quickly learning how much of a media darling Nick Swisher can be. To say he's a litte out there would be an understatement. The contrast between these guys is staggering. When Alex Rodriguez comes back to the team sometime in mid-May he may want to look to Swisher for a perfect example. I'm not saying that A-Rod has to act all out there and be really loud, but just not be totally absent like he seems on so many occasions. I also think Swisher will make easier on him because he's just that kind of guy. I know we all have our opinions on whether team chemistry really matters. Either way it's something the Yankees have lacked for a while. But I can tell you that the scrutinity that Alex has come under has definitely hindered him. It just gives him something to worry about. With the presence of such a happy go lucky guy like Nick Swisher, brighter days may be ahead for A-Rod. He's just going to have to let someone help him. If he's up for it.

Uhm...Somehow I get the feeling that if ARod starts
smiling and laughing while his team is down by 18 runs, he won’t get a very good reaction.

I agree with the last comment
No one should be smiling if your team looses 22 to 4. I saw swisher smiling after the game .. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t like loosing and seeing my team loose upsets me. A-Rod has a lot more responsibilities on his shoulders everyone expects him to bring his A game every game. (personally everyone should bring the same) Why well because he is the highest payed player in the game. What does A-Rod have to worry about? Compared to Swisher.. He will hit 35 + HR and at least 100RBIs. Swisher will bat in maybe 20 home runs and 70RBIs who would i rather have on my team?.. A-ROD…

i get that
i’m not saying i’d rather have swisher over A-Rod, obviously that doesn’t make any sense. I’m just saying that A-Rod could take a lesson from the way Swisher carries himself. Sometimes A-Rod seems too uptight and Swisher obviously doesn’t.

mostly agree
Arod doesn’t need to act like Swisher – for one thing, everyone would then call him a phony, but Swisher could inspire Arod to ‘be himself’ and not care what other think.
