assuming Gardner works out?
1. CF Gardner
2. SS Jeter
3. LF Damon
4. 1B Tex
5. DH Matsui
6. C Posada
7.2B Cano
8. RF Swisher/Nady
9. 3B Ransom
They wanted Gardner to hit 9th ahead of Damon...to me Damon seems like the best fit to hit 3rd. I don't like the idea of Matsui hitting 4th. It seem to make sense that Jeter would remain hitting 2nd, but if that makes better sense switch Jeter and Damon in the lineup. If Gardner can get on base, he's def faster than Damon. Kruk had Matsui hitting 4th...just doesn't feel right. He's hit 3rd before though hasn't he? Don't like him there either. If it isn't Tex hitting 4th wouldn't Posada be the logical choice?
Anyone think the Dodgers would take Matsui for Manny :)

nevermind
nevermind, it looks like Girardi just said Tex is going to remain in the lineup hitting 3rd..so that pretty much means Matsui is hitting 4th…I guess if Arod comes back sooner than later he wants 1-3 to get as least amount if disruption as possible.

Matsui's knees ...
I just returned from Tampa, where I watched a very gimpy-looking Matsui hobble out to stretch and run the bases. The group of people I was standing with were all shocked by what we saw. Matsui looked horrible. Granted he did stroke a single later in the day against the Braves, but he doesn’t look anywhere near ready.
I saw Peter Abraham, and was hoping to ask him about Matsui, but it just didn’t work out. Since he is there everyday, I’d love to get his thoughts on Matsui’s situation because from my vantage point it looks bleak.

Manny Ramirez for Matsui?
Why don’t the Yankees try and get somebody that they can actually use or use later. The Yankees don’t need Ramirez, he is a poison to the club house.

assuming gardner works out
what about cano batting third? he has showed at times he can be very productive. he flirted with .400 a few years back. i think any way we go, we will have a great year. we are getting back to defense first. thats how we won all those rings w/ torre. defense and pitching!! im excited about the new year.

without Arod
the lineup should go:
Damon
DJ
Tex
Matsui
Posada
Cano
Swisher
Gardner
Ransom
Gardner should not be getting more ABs than guys with power like Damon and Tex. Him and Ransom can hold down the 8/9 spots.
