Time is now to move Melky
The Arod fiasco only accelerates what was likely to happen anyway--the trade of Melky Cabrera. As Yankee brass have already announced "they are already looking for a replacement" for Arod. I suggest starting with either the Rangers or the Tigers.
And since I don't believe David Wright or Evan Longoria will end up in pinstripes, there are a number of serviceable--even quality names that I believe can be had...
The Rangers currently have Young slated for third and Blalock kind of floating. Blalock would be a good choice, and considering Andruw Jones is injured (and sucks) Melky might be just the answer. I think we might need to sweeten the pot on any such deal, but the Rangers are weak in pitching--while amazingly we have depth.
Another option might be Brandon Inge--who could also serve as a backup, backup catcher. Inge is unhappy in Detroit and while they might not want Melky, I'm sure we could put something together for Inge.
And then there's Andy Marte ... a talented but frustrating enigma that Cleveland doesn't seem able to unlock. Again, with Sizemore patrolling cf, Melky may not be suitable trade bait, but Marte is certainly someone I would consider.

Actually
I’ve read that Inge is much happier this season because he’s moved up on the Tiger’s depth chart (I don’t recall exactly where and how, but I’m at work and filters prevent me from checking it out right now).

No Blalock
Gang, I’m a Yankees fan living in Dallas. Blalock sucks! His swing has deteriorated, his bat speed is awful and his shoulder is in such bad shape that he can’t make the throw from third to first anymore.
So...
The Rangers have a glut of OF’ers, not a shortage. Andruw Jones is their 5th OF. And Hank Blalock is no longer a 3B, pretty sure he’s a full time DH.
Brandon Inge could be a possibility, I guess. He’s been pretty bad with the bat the last few years though.
And I really hope you sign Andy Marte and give him significant AB’s. As a Sox fan, that will be fun to watch.
You can't sign Marte, he's not a FA.
He got DFA’d, not released. He’s still property of the Indians and they are now free to send him to the minors without penalty.
Tools Whore
One issue with traing Melky is...
.. after last years poor performance, his stock is down. One good thing about moving him now is that we would have an extra infielder, which appears to be a weakness for the Yankees.
