Jonathan Albaladejo is in. Brett Tomko and Dan Giese are out. Your thoughts?

Fine by me
But if we find our pen is being overtaxed before Tomko’s time is up in June, I hope we give him the first shot at being the long man. If he continues to perform well in either the minors or majors, he could be trade bait for the scads of teams that need a fourth or fifth starter. He’d get the strongest return if he proves himself in the AL East.
I expect Geise to be the odd man out on the 40-man to make room for Pena or Berroa (or both? See my fanpost).

Giese
I actually think you are right about that. As much as you like what Giese did last year, the Yankees have a lot of guys who can fill that slot and Giese is not exactly a young prospect.

Sheffield issue
I’m reading where the Tigers are letting him go…who were the three pitching prospects we sent him to Detroit for?….what happened to them?
Mantle fan
Kevin Whelan, Anthony Claggett, and Humberto Sanchez
All have excellent promise. Claggett dominated this spring.

Whatever dude
All this means is that we’re getting closer to OD!!!
If one falters, at least we’ll have viable backups not named Sidney Ponson or Brett Tomko (hope he asks for his release).
We have enough middle relievers with options
if we get in a situation where one guy has to go 3 innings, we’ll send him down and call up someone else.
It worked all last season, and we had one of the best Yankee pens in recent memory.

why are even wasting our time on Brett Tomko?
He might have thrown a few good innings in spring training, but he’s still posted a career 92 ERA+ over more than 1,700 innings. He’s 36 years old. I wish him the best, but unless he gets a sudden boost late in his career, there must be at least five other pitchers in the organization who are more worthy of innings.
MY THOUGHTS? GOOD!!!
I have high hopes for Johnathan this year (as i did last year before he was injured. Giese is gonna be up before too long. Tomko I couldnt care less about. If the guy can help the Yankees in any way at any point, great, if not, then no big.

I don't think Giese will be one of the first called up
As I said above, there’s a lot of speculation he could be DFA’d to make room for either Berroa or Pena on the 40-man. He’s not projected to be in the Scranton rotation (Cash has already said that will be Hughes, Kennedy, Igawa, Aceves, and Jason Johnson, with Tomko and Giese in the pen).

Giese?
Sadly, I think he is about to be dropped from the 40-man. He is hardly a prospect. He did well last season, but his is a 30+ journeyman who is easily replaceable.
