Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Veteran Presence

Let's talk about the veterans for a minute.  I'm glad Jeter, Mo, Jorge, and Andy are still in the dugout this season.  With each passing year the glory days become less vivid.  When you see these veterans you see glimpses of days gone by and great seasons.  It's also great that Tino is still active with the organization.  I think without any of these guys around, we would not know who the Yankees are.  It gives me a good feeling that these guys are around  know what it's like to win and are more than capable of doing what it takes.  You know as well as I do that team chemistry and everything falling into place is a key ingredient and maybe the most important.  Well besides the pitching being really really great.  It's that factor I believe is missing.  This is the year.  This is the team.

yes, we should have a lot of optimism

about this season.

but i have to disagree that chemistry is important to winning. plenty of teams over the years have succeeded with ‘bad seeds’, e.g. Manny, Reggie, etc.

chemistry might have a positive impact, but it’s probably very small.
