'Big day' for Posada, Yankees
From the Journal-News:
For the first time since July 19, Jorge Posada
The Yankees plan to let Posada catch only three innings against the Minnesota Twins. That should be just enough time to get an idea of how well he has recovered from the extensive surgery he had on his right shoulder last summer.
"It's a big day. We need Jorge. I'm anxious to see it," manager Joe Girardi said. "It's important for our club."
- So much for the shutout spring my adopted Yankee Mark Melancon was enjoying. The young righty surrendered 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning Saturday and now has a 7.94 ERA for the spring.

We desperately need
a healthy Posada, especially with ARod out. I hope it all goes smoothly.

Melancon will come into his own soon enough. Saw him pitch a few games for the Thunder last season before he shot off to WB/S. With Mo holding down the closer position there’s no rush, so I’m sure that will help his progression.

Best news all spring...
A healthy Posada (4 innings caught / 2-for-2) is even more important to the team than having a healthy Arod. Also, don’t downgrade Melancon, and his first stumbles, to stepchild status just yet.
