Yankees overspent?
Considering what is going on with the remaining FAs, do you think the Yankees over spent this off season?
I contend no. Their moves set up the franchise for the next three years at a minimum. Take a look at the very weak FA pool next year. Yikes!
I think the Yankees were very smart to secure the three big guys early and let the other teams fight over mediocrity. It may not have been the smartest economic move, but a very good baseball strategy.
The Yankees have another $32 mil coming off their payroll after the 2009 season. Their outfield will be weeded out with Matsui, Damon and Nady FAs. Holliday is the only big time FA scheduled for next year. Seems like a match made in heaven?

What's your point?
So what if they did. They are the Yankees. This is how they do business. They have a license to print money and they don’t care how much they have to spend to chase down a championship. God Bless ’em.
