Obama 'depressed' re: Arod
If you're a fan of Major League Baseball, I think it -- it tarnishes an entire era, to some degree. And it's unfortunate, because I think there are a lot of ballplayers who played it straight. And, you know, the thing I'm probably most concerned about is the message it sends to our kids.
I don't have kids, but to those who do: is this a real problem, or is it more a made-up political issue?
- Roy Oswalt is downright pissed:
The few times we played them, when he got hits, it could have cost me a game. It could have cost me money in my contract. He cheated me out of the game and I take it personally, because I’ve never done [PEDs], haven’t done it, and they’re cheating me out of the game.
Ummm... Roy, do you realize you played with Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and (currently) Miguel Tejada?

Do you like this story?

Hey Roy
get over yourself. What an annoying comment to make. You single out ARod as if he is the only one to use PED’s that you have ever faced. Please. How about you make your contract money by pitching in the National league, not because ARod could have possibly had a hit against you.
kids aren't
exactly buying $500 a vial designer steroids off the streets. regardless, this is a big story in the baseball world but should really be a non-story in the grand scheme of things.

BOYCOTT Sports Illustrated
I’m growing tired of “journalists” breaking ethical boundaries for their 60 seconds of fame.
They have responsibility for blowing the story—there were 104 players, not one that they were head hunting, A-Rod.
For me, the boundaries were broken when one of these bozo’s duped George Steinbrenner into an interview. Though the writer was with Conde Nast at the time, it is interesting to note that he was “trained” at SI!
The publishers, editors and senior managers bear responsibility for this head hunting as well.
Here are the best ways to get their attention as you stop financially supporting S.I. :
1-cancel your subscriptions or let them run out!
2-don’t buy their newsstand issues* and let them rot!
*OK-make one exception-the swimsuit issue :)

Amazing the posturing in the media over A-Rod...
Hey Roy, anyone else who gets a hit against you can cost you money from your contract. So can the teammates who fail to make a play. To last out at A-Rod is just plain hypocrisy. Come on, I would expect that from Schilling, but you?
Obama, is there a media opportunity you won’t turn down? Not even a full month in office and he annoys the hells out of me. Not to mention taking the money out of me with his ‘stimulus’ package, but that’s a whole other debate best suited elsewhere.
And to the fan who calls for the boycott of SI – here here! This was gotcha “journalism” at its worst.
corrections...
that should read “lash out” instead of “last out” – sorry folks, the morning coffee hasn’t kicked in yet.
I'm not ...
an Obama guy, but in fairness, the question was thrown at him in a presser. I’m more outraged at SI than I am at Arod or Obama, or even Gammons. I hope this stunt backfires on SI and they actually lose more readership. This is akin to the National Inquirer.

Fair enough, Ronster...
Fair enough. It just seems like we get an Obama Overdose in the media already before he’s asked about A-Rod.
Why does Obama have to comment on this?
just defer to MLB and leave it at that. Another case of the govt trying to get involved in private enterprise.
Uhm..maybe because a reporter asked him a question about it?

that's what Bush would have said...
…because he couldn’t answer a question without the answer written out for him.
its also
how coaches deal with player matters, see the giants right after plax shot himself.
And obama was um…umm…ummm…bottom line…. umm’ing through his own speech the other night. Not even sneaky that he was picking guys with approved questions but I dont want to get into that here.
Bush was more qualified to answer questions about baseball, but didnt. Obama should stick to basketball instead of messing with baseball, and the banking system, and borrowing more money from china for his 2009 Democratic Induced Panic Pork Act.
This is why we need to keep politics out of this forum
Even mentioning a politician’s name often provokes this kind of dialog.
