HOF Veteran's Committee passes on Billy Martin
The Veterans Committee elected Whitey Herzog to the Hall of Fame today. Also on the ballot, but falling short, was Billy Martin, who actually had more regular season wins and a better winning percentage in roughly the same number of games as Herzog.
Billy has to be one of the more memorable managers in the 20th century, and managed long enough (and well enough) to warrant a plaque in Cooperstown. Hopefully it comes one day.

I don’t understand how they’re electing an umpire and, nothing against Herzog, but a seemingly unspectacular manager into the HoF and leaving out all these big people.
Herzog was huge
He was huge in his day and far more respected than Martin.
