Are the Yankees mishandling their Wang?

Word is that the Yankees are not going to retain Chien-Ming Wang. I can't help but feel this is not the right thing to do. We all know what Wang can do, if he can come back healthy, the rotation would be amazing. Is it really worth letting him go just to save a few dollars? I can just see the stories if he comes back healthy with the Dodgers, it would be tough to bear.

I still believe in him

We’ve given other tons of crap more than their fair share. Wang has proven what he can do.

Just because Wang wasn't offered arbitration

and guaranteeing him a minimum $4m salary doesn’t mean he won’t be back. There isn’t a whole lot of interest around baseball for a pitcher who hasn’t pitched in a year and a half (he’s projected to be ready by mid- to late-season.). The Yankees can always offer him a small base salary with incentives.

I just don’t agree, keeping him on leaves an empty space in rotation again. He will put THE 27 TIME WORLD CHAMPION YANKEES at a disadvantage again,

?

If Wang was healthy, the Yankees don’t lose a game in the playoffs.

During the reg. season, they also could’ve won 120.

Hell yea give him another chance!

Get him healthy.

Tho, I’d think that CM Wang himself is tired of the Yanks.

Why you think that? He gets a ton of endorsement money from his homeland of Taiwan. Playing in NY gives him further exposure.

the way they've handled his injuries...

the fact they don’t just sign him to realize what they have in him (or maybe they know something….)

I’d think he wants a fresh start with a new team.

Definitely give him another chance.

Give him an incentive-laden deal, and get him some starts when he returns in the second half of the year. If he comes back to 2006/2007 form, we have the best rotation in baseball

Best title in years..

Yanks have been to busy winning the title to be handling “their wang”. I expect him to be as healthy as a bull comes spring training. If he chucks a 80mph fast ball, and his sinker is still way up in the zone, he will be trade bait for someone that thinks they can fix’em. I’d rather have him then a Garland, Davis or some other schlep at some ridiculous salary.

The only reason they'll let him go is if

they know his arm is completely shot.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

They need to get Wang back up

He had a some injuries all stemming from him trying to slip it in at home. Luckily he is not injured from being over used or abused. He may be a little overly stiff for awhile but hopefully after some professional rub downs he will loosen up a little and be able to once again spray his load down and in again. He may not be able to shoot it with the same velocity like he use to but as we all know its about angles and how well he can stroke it in the zone. If he has a rough time and gets banged up a little, either Hughes or Joba can offer him some protection.

Yeah

Not only should the Yankees retain Wang because he may bounce back from his injury, but if he pitches for another team where else will we come up with thinly-veiled penis jokes?

Wang had better be back

He’s young. He’s homegrown. He’ll be cheap. And the guy is capable of winning 19 GAMES!!!!! 2 YEARS IN A ROW!!!!!!! REMEMBER THAT CASHMAN???

If they let him go, I have a feeling they will come to regret it. He can be a free ace added to the rotation when he comes back if he’s on form. You’re going to pass that up Cashman? Please don’t. That would be stupid.

Agreed

With everything you posted. Word for word. He was our ace at one point! Tears will be shed if he’s not in pinstripes.
