$185 million?
I guess Brian Cashman will be looking for handouts at the Winter Meetings.

The actual quote gives a range up to 200 million and it is not a hard limit.
i think all options are open but if the free agents come back it will be at a discount and any offer for Holiday will be mets like in the Santana case.
This leads me to Matt H. you could give him a long term contract, resign pettite and still com in the range if Damon , Matsui, Wang and Nady are not resigned.
to get younger & lower payroll
as much as I’d like to have Doc Halladay, the only way to get younger & lower payroll is keep our top prospects, and within the next 2 seasons, Ajax, & jesus will be in NY… we have to hope toronto keeps asking for the moon, and boston bluffs at the asking price and we can just sign him after next season…
So does this mean
that I dont have to pay as much for Yankees merchandise etc..I will buy more jerseys, you just keep sticking it to the losers.
Please
A $185M budget means that’s their starting point. As I recall, the Yankees were all set last year, and then Cashman went to the Steins with hat in hand. The rest is history.
I will wager one virtual steak dinner that the Yankee payroll next year is > $185M.
I will wager one virtual beer that the Yankee payroll is greater than > $195M.
Any takers?

Cashman's budget
is “whatever he seems fit to be prudent.” not 185. he’ll do whatever he wants. I’d say it stays around 210
