Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

More praise for Jesus: I know that his position is up in the air, but I love this bat so much that I'm going to give him a straight Grade A. This is a Mike Piazza/Manny Ramirez type bat.

The top five round out with Romine, Man-Ban, Z-Mac and Slade.

Good to see Slade up there...

dunno why..seems a bit early given his lack of time in the system to be top 5 already.

well

the ‘elimination’ of Ajax, Dunn and Arod (the younger) enabled a lot of prospects to move up the list.

why can't we ... ?

why can’t we teach ol’Jesus to play left field?

Is this a drafting strategy?

But does anyone else notice a disproportionate amount of Catcher prospects?

by Vancouverguy on Dec 31, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

It has been intentional for the most part.

A few years ago the Yankees FO identified Catcher as having the weakest talent pool in the majors. Hoarding them makes them very, very, valuable in trades. I mean look at some of the starting catcehrs in the big leagues you’d be shocked at how bad some of them are. Billy Beane used to “sell the closer”, Brian Cashman is going to sell the catcher.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

yeah

he’s collecting them because they are disproportionately more valuable than any other position player. no way they all make it with the Yanks, but they’ll bring more in trades than say a LFer or a 1B-man.

That's a first.

I mean the comparison to Manny of course. (joking)

Yankees all day.
