Nady Anyone?
For once the Yankees might not pay big for one of their needs. With the payroll hovering around a little lower than $ 200 million, the Yankees might be virtually done spending big money. But their is still one hole the Yankees need to fill, and that is left field. In his first year I doubt the Yankees are going to move Granderson over to left field just so that a pesky Gardner can control centerfield. It was him that got his starting job taken away almost immediately by Melky Cabrera.
A possible solution is signing OF Xavier Nady to a one year contract worth a very small amount. While he didn't do anything for the Yankees championship season last year, he did post a solid .305 AVG with a .510 slugging percentage for both Pittsburgh and New York in 08'.
It's all matters how cheap the Bombers want to go. If they want to stay under $ 200 million dollars, Nady is the way they might want to go. Then again Damon talks can come crawling right back.

I'd rather have Damon
but if he can’t lower his price, then I think Nady would be a VERY good place to go. However, Boras is his agent, which could present a problem if the Yankees really are serious about this payroll thing. I read something online a few days ago about how even Nady may be above their price.
Cashman said
that it is his price range and not his health that is keeping him away from Nady.

The LF thing...
Should be more clear pretty soon. Despite Boras running around trying to drum up offers it looks like Matt Holliday will sign with the Cardinals sometime next week, and then Damon will be the top outfielder on the market and he’ll get to see what kind of offers are out there. Other than the Braves and White Sox he doesn’t really fit anywhere so he may wind up coming back to the Yankees for less than their original offer. If he does get his multi-year deal the Yankees will probably sign a lower priced option like Nady or Reed Johnson and let that guy fight it out with Gardner in the spring.

Yeah
I don’t see the Yanks making a move at LF until Damon is signed elsewhere.

How much can Nady actually expect after missing just about a full season?
If anything he’d be fortunate to get an incentive-laden deal giving him what he would want in a guaranteed contract.
Yankees all day.

MLB XM radio says Nady wants 3-4 years 20 Million..
that’s retarded…
is he stupid?
thats worse than what Damon wanted early in the offseason. At least Damon played last year.
don't you remember?
Back in 2008 (Nady’s last full season) he hit .305 and his OBP was .357 with 25 homeruns and 97 rbi splitting time with the Pirates and the Yankees. Those are all-star numbers. and compare it Matt Holiday last season he hit .313 with and OBP of .394, 24 homeruns and 109 rbi…if nady wants only 5-6 million a year, that is a steal seeing as holiday wants 3 times as much with slightly better overall numbers. can you imagine a lineup with either one of them? we’d be having either swisher or cano batting 9th. thats either a .320 average and 25 homeruns or a solid 30 homeruns in the 9 spot. that could be one of the most prolific offenses of all time
Until he puts two of those
types of season together, we’ll call that an outlier and a career year.

exactly...
and the surgery he’s coming off of..isn’t exactly the type where I’d expect him to repeat that 2008.
