What to Look Forward to in 2010

As the new year approaches, here is a list of what to look forward to in 2010 as a Yankees fan.

1. Curtis Granderson patrolling center.

2. Javier Vazquez as the 4th starter.

3. Joba/Hughes starting competition.

4. The "new" Alex Rodriguez full-season mode.

5. David Robertson as a full-season reliever.

6. Jesus Montero possibly in Pinstripes.

7. Repeat?

Anything I'm forgetting? (Other than the obvious players)

You missed a couple

I’m looking forward to Joba pitching w/ no limitations. I think we can see a breakout season out of him next year.

CERVELLI in the majors ALL of next season!!!!

Blelieve it or not

I think that’s the most intriguing thing to look forward to; How Cervelli does for an entire season, and how Part II of Vazquez pans out. We know what the others are capable of…

To add a few:

Burnett with a full season in NY under his belt… maybe he’ll start to perform more consistently.

Cervelli, of course.

Cano, breaking free from his bad luck with RISP and having a monster year. (one can dream)

Girardi changing his jersey number to 28?

And if the roster stays as is: a DH with an OBA of .450 and a ninth place hitter with 40+ stolen bases.

ninth place

I think they are going to give Hoffman a series look at left field

Thanks for the comments guys!

Cervelli will certainly be interesting…..if he struggles (which isn’t possible for him) they could give the job to Mike Rivera

That’s pretty much it…

And it ain’t a prediction but but would love to see if a-rod can win the AL MVP back at full strength and the stress of postseason performace/no ring off his back…

Agreed

I think Joba will do well. He reminds me a little of Mussina in that he does poorly when his routine is changed, which is what we saw in Aug and Sep. We’ll see if that’s true this year.

I’m also looking forward to seeing another full year of Aceves.

I am a little curious about how IPK will do in the new setting. I think is problems are mental and wonder if the change in scenery will impact him.

Not exactly sure how

an anurysm (excuse my spelling) is mental

I think he means before that

in 2008, it was ALL mental. He had the ability, but he was so afraid of the strike zone. He nibbled, fell behind, then was forced to throw it down the middle, and got knocked around. That was his story in 2008 (well, that and his horrible interview after his start against the Angels).

Ok, thats possible

He showed some real strength coming back from injury and getting to the MLB right away

what im looking forward to...

1. joba with no limitations(how will it affect his pitch count issues)
2. granderson in centerfield
3. possibly having a .420 OBP player batting in front of Teixeira and A-Rod and how potent that should be

also things to possibly look for in my mind is cano continuining to elevate his game and really combining the batting average and power to elevate himself to a similar level as utley/kinsler

cervelli as a backup qb is not on my list
