Discussions with Johnson 'hot'
The Yankees like the idea of Granderson and Johnson more than Damon and Matsui, especially considering the money.

I feel like I’d almost rather have Jim Thome. He performed really well for the Dodgers as just a pinch hitter down the stretch and I think he just wants to win. I know that his swing isn’t what it used to be, but for a clubhouse presence and a genuine old school baseball guy, I think Thome would make a fabulous addition to this team.
