The Yanks were impressed by Chapman's improved physique (better diet and conditioning) and his slightly altered mechanics.

I'm of the opinion that the Yanks should spend big on international free agents. I was disappointed by Igawa, but I like the approach and am not scared of another disappointment. The Yanks will never draft high, so they should flex their financial muscle in every other way.

If he really is as good an international FA...

I say yea, go get him. I like that the Yanks are interested…it seems they’re really doing their HW on this one, so if they sign him for the $ amount, they’ll ‘know what they are doing’.

Of course it could not pan out….but that’s the case with everything….

I too am of the opinion that the Yanks should sign the best foreigners

No one ever gets it right every time. You can’t let a Kei Igawa make you shun an Alfredo Aceves. Young lefties that throw 100 don’t grow on trees. You have to go after the best guys out there. A pr\ivate workout is a good sign.

We need a new #2 prospect behind The Jesus

Ole Chappy could fill that role admirably.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

i have a question

does the money they use to sign these guys to a minor league contract count against thier luxury tax payroll?

Nope

all the more reason to build a team this way.

I love this approach...

Private work out on our terms….In the presence of world champion yankee scouts and executives…

Not only dowe get a closer more defined look at his mechanics, but we see how his nerves are because of the obvious opportunity that is presented to him…

If he impresses us more…let’s get him…..

He tossed off a wooden mound

wearing a bathrobe and flip-flops during his initial demo. This ain’t Cuba anymore. Definitely a good idea to see him work again while in a real pitching environment against live batters.
