Yankees Talking to Nick Johnson
Yankees have expressed interest in former Yankee Nick Johnson to DH for a year. I don't really like the idea seeing as Nick can't stay healthy and has hit 20 homers once. Maybe if he were a secondary option at DH, and came off the bench.

as a DH…less risky.
If Matsui can stay healthy as a DH with 2 knees ready to snap at the next swing…Johnson, who merely has bad injury luck…can stay healthy.

Different roles ...
Nick is a 1b/DH only; they need Swish for OF unless they sign someone else.
I likey.
to DH? Off the Bench? Play some good D off the bench when Tex needs to hang out with Kate Hudson?

i'll take his
.420+ on base pct. in front of tex and a-rod.

wow
you think a guy with a career OBP of .402 (even higher the last few years) is a bad choice but Guerrero and Thome are good choices???
just wow

Too old tho don’t ya think?
Guerrero is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE idea..especially over Nick Johnson.

Shoot atleast Vlady would give you 25-28 homers
Johnson is great on getting on base….but that’s about it….no pop at all and injury prone….
Not thrilled with the move but his OBP. Makes it seem pretty stupid too bash it knowing who our 3 and 4 hitters are…….

Vlady's not getting 25-28 HR anymore.
Lucky if he gets 20.
Nick Johnson, in THIS stadium…could get 20. Don’t doubt that…playing in the Nats stadiums in the years, he hasn’t had a favorable HR stadium at all.
plus…..Nick gets on 40% of the time…Vlad…34% of the time..I’ll take Nick batting in front of Tex and A-Rod.

Like it
Perfect 2 hole hitter, gets on base A lot, a doubles machine, we already know he can play in New York, DHing will help him stay healthy (hopefully), AND only a 1 year deal? Do it…..No really do it now!
Would be really frustrating...
To see the Yankees sign Nick Johnson, who would only DH for us, after letting Matsui go because he can only DH.

Nick is younger.
+ he’s more likely to NOT take a dump this season (which Mats certainly can at his age).
Matsui’s knees could snap at any second too.
And don’t get around the fact at where he’d be playing….15-20 HR for Nick is not out of the question.
He’s a good RBI guy too…Jeet better be in shape.

No Way
Nick Johnson is always injured. Granted, when healthy, he could hit some home runs in the new Stadium, but I don’t think the Yanks should bring him back.
Thome is old and fading. Guerrero is also a major injury risk who seems to be fading quickly; it’s one thing when a great hitter in his prime swings at everything because he can hit everything, but an aging slugger who swings at everything is not what the Yankees need.
