I for one like Cashmans moves

Listen,Boston signing Lackey Makes them a little better, but replacing Bay with Cameron did nothing for there already ailing offense. But the Lackey deal probably takes them out of the mix for the real crop of #1 hurlers next yr.And if Beckett decides he wants to go to free agency instead of reup they probably can't bring him back either. So look at it this way.The Halladay deal takes him off the market with an extension from the Phils, but puts Cliff Lee on the market for sure. The Phils could not get him to sign because,as Lee has publicly said he wants to go to free agency to get paid. With Lee,Webb, and possibly Beckett out there Boston basically chose Lackey over two maybe three of these guys for a ridiculous amount of money and yrs. They will regret it mark my words. And in my opinion did not make themselves the favorite for anything even if the Yanks do nothing else.So my question is would you trade lackey for Lee or Beckett,or Webb if he returns to form.I know its not guaranteed that any of them sign with the Yanks but I like there chances.Boston just wet the bed in my opinion to get a pitcher 1 yr before the real prize.

Hey dude, sometimes it's the moves you don't make

that end up working out well.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

cashman bashman...

is not bashing cashman?

I agree, I like the moves so far. I dunno what the plan is..but I also know that Halladay and Lackey weren’t in the plans, or else they’d be on the team. No way the Yankees weren’t given a final chance on Lackey to top the Pissants’ offer.

There’s OF out there. There’s DH/OF out there. There’s pitchers out there.

I for one….still think people are underrating the Granderson move…he’s a potential all-star who had a bad year last year. He’s too young to be in decline and could thrive as he gets into his prime in the Bronx.

There’s certainly no Halladay, Lackey or apparently Lee, on the board anymore. But a guy like Sheets, the upside is very very high.

I still think they’ll sign Damon and he’ll be the DH and LF when someone else is DHing.

I wouldn’t count out Matt Holliday.

THe pitching front, even including pipe dreams of a 100% Sheets…is still thin.

That said…this has got to be the year that our youngins…Joba and/or Hughes, lock down a rotation spot.

I think the Yanks will get a 4th starter, who it is I don’t know. But one of these youngins are gonna have to lock down the 5th spot and show something.

And I thought

I was the only one who thought Holliday was going to wind up here.

But agree with you 100%, when I saw that we got Granderson, I was pumped. The guy’s gonna be an All-Star for sure. And I have a feeling Kevin Long’s going to fix that AVG against Lefty’s.

For some reason, I’m liking Bedard though.

yeah, I’ve been wishing for a Holliday present. It’ll be big bucks to bring him in, though.

While I don't really like Bay...

he’s also possible.

What did the Mets offer him? 5ys, 60 million? Yanks could top that

Yanks could easily top either deal to Holliday or Bay and come in below 200M in payroll

never bash the cash,he does the bashing

I want Sheets first also, huge stuff.Hope he is healthy and we get him.Joba or hughes can be a number 3 like Lackey.Or they could fail and then next yr go after the replacements. If Sheets is right Lackey doesnt hold a candle to him.

I like his moves too so far

I’ve learned to like the Granderson move. I think it will actually end up benefiting the Yankees. They got an All-Star Center Fielder in his prime, and they gave up another CF who has a chance to get as good as Granderson, but I like the certain and now guy. Coke and Kennedy? I won’t miss them. So that was a good move.

Not trading for Halladay I completely agree with. I wish Lackey hadn’t gone to the Sox, but I think that we wouldn’t have gotten him anyway.

What does he do now? Resigning Johnny Damon needs to be a priority now. He can’t afford to lose both Matsui and Damon. Thats a huge number of HR and RBI he’s losing, and Granderson doesn’t replace all of them. They need a guy to play LF/DH, and I can’t think of anyone I would want more right now than Damon. So resign him. Next, get a fourth starter. A B-line starter. I’d like to see him take a shot on Sheets. He’s an ace when healthy and will be cheap. Another cheap, good option would be Chien-Ming Wang, who I would still be heartbroken if he doesn’t resign. Maybe add one more bullpen pitcher too.

The Yanks are in good shape right now. They don’t need much. They are the World Champions, and the team to beat.
