The CMW era is over in the Bronx. I expect he'll sign with another team, but a return is not out of the question.

This is sad

I’ve always been a huge CMW fan so it’s hard to see him go.

Maybe he'll be back

2-3 mil for Wang just seems like it might be a better choice than 10-12 for Ben Sheets. It would also fit the Hughes-rules perfectly because Hughes could start in the 1st half and then move to the pen in the 2nd half when Wang returned.

THE YANKEES ALREADY TRIED HUGHES AS A STARTER,HE IS MUCH BETTER OUT OF THE PIN.WHAT A SILLY THOUGHT TO PUT HIM BACK IN THE ROTATION.

Phil Hughes has 28 career MLB starts in 3 years

you’re calling that “already tried”?

For real?

Yankees Do Not Train On The Job

Hughes numbers speak for themselves. He was horrible as a starter.

by Ron L on Dec 12, 2009 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

The Yankees are not short minded...

they know that you can’t give up on a starter so quick

They’d be foolish to give up on Hughes as a starter.

Like Joba, he was only in the pen out of necessity.

If he is again, it will be out of necessity.

He’s gotta earn a rotation spot, but again, fools to give up on him already.

The kid is 23 years old and the former #1 pitching prospect in baseball, he’s meant to start.

Of course!

No body waits on a rookie. Not one team in all of sports.

You kidding? If that waste stinks in his first few starts, you gotta go look in a different direction.

Can’t wait. Win or die!! Die Winning!

Oh boy, I hope this doesn't come back to bite us

We really should try to get him back in pinstripes

I can see another team taking a chance.

I dunno why the Yankees aren’t “taking a chance”.

I don't understand it

Wang was a great pitcher for this team. He won’t be hurt forever. He’ll be back. And when he is, the Yankees think that he won’t be worth even 3 million? After all he did in 2006-2008? They honestly think that when he returns he can’t be successful again, without even giving him a low-priced opportunity? Thats not being fair to him. Wang was, as recent as 2008, the ace of this Yankees staff. He won 19 games two years in a row, and was one of the top pitchers in the league. I think he has earned himself at least a chance to get his career back on track with the Yankees.

I hope he comes back. I’ve always been a huge Chien-Ming Wang fan. I loved how he got out of innings so easily with one pitch to get a double play. I loved how he got to the 7th inning and he only had thrown 70 pitches thrown, because he’s so economical. I really hope the Yankees give him another chance.

If not, well then, good luck to Chien-Ming Wang. I wish him the best, and I hope that, wherever he goes, he is successful. Good luck CMW.

Bringing

back a pitcher who’s torn his labrum is basically throwing money away.

It’s sad, but it’s reality.

Tears have fallen...

The man was brilliant! I can’t say enough about him. I, for one, have NOT forgotten what he did for us. Call me bitter or melodramatic, but I am not a happy camper right now.

If it’s about money…get rid of the “crap” that’s just sitting there! Aka…Guadin and Mitre…

by jigglytuffy on Dec 13, 2009 12:07 AM EST reply actions

Just what about Gaudin is "crap"?

He posted a 2-0 record for the Yankees in 42.0 IP with an ERA+ of 125, and he’s 26 years old = still fairly young. Where, exactly, is the “crap” in that??
