Negotations underway with Damon
The Yankees have begun talking with him and Scott Boras about returning to the Bronx.
If he comes back, it signals the certain end for another outfielder.

Oh no! Brett Gardner might not get to play!!
The Yankees “grit quotient” is going to go way down.

Needs to be the hard ceiling for what to offer. Otherwise, just go and sign Mike Cameron or Matsui to DH for a year.

That is exactly what I think, as well.

Id rather have Matsui if Damon is going to be an almost permanent DH.

He won't be
Melky will play LF and Damon will DH in the “A” lineup. But there will be days where Posada can’t catch and you want to keep him in the lineup. You can’t count on him to catch 140 games, can you? Maybe 100 games, 110-120 at most. You want Posada to miss a full 40-60 games because he can’t catch, and can’t DH because of Matsui?
Damon will come back and have a part time job in the OF if he comes back, and play LF during the times Posada DHs. With Matsui there, you lose the flexibility of the DH (and ability to give Posada and other regulars days off), because he has to DH, and only DH.
I’d rather have Damon back. I’d love it if they could find a way to keep both, but with the addition of Grand Central (man I love that nickname) it will be difficult to squeeze just one of them in, let alone two.
You’re right but its nice to dream.

F that...damon has speed to catch any ball...
And looks lost everytime he’s about to catch it..He scares me EVERYTIME he goes to catch a ball…..Wouldn’t mind letting him walk we have more then enough outfielders….
Damon has pop (don’t know how with that one hand golf swing he has)..I just think matsui is much more steady at the plate….I just hope he lowers his expectations cause the yankees aren’t signing him to play the OF…
Nyyrocks your right…you loose flexibility with matsui at DH…a little…
DH posada, A rod, on the days off maybe even SWISHER (not like he don’t have the pop)….
F that..I want both butI want matsui more…..Thnx for everything Johnny boy…by the way just heard from espn radio that cashman said those talks with johnny boy have ceased for now….

Good
call me crazy but I like what Damon brings to the clubhouse, the Yankees need people like him
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
In the minority here
as I don’t want neither Damon nor Matsui back since the WS ended. However, if he’s willing to accept 1/$8.5M, I welcome him back with open arms.
