Playoffs MVP?
Hideki Matsui won the World Series MVP by going 8-13 with three longballs and eight RBI. CC Sabathia won the ALCS MVP by going 2-0 with a 1.12 ERA.
But it begs the question: who deserves the postseason MVP?
The candidates are -
A-Rod: .365/.500/.808, 6 HR, 18 RBI, 15 R, 2 SB, 0 CS
Sabathia: 3-1, 1.98 ERA, 36.1 ip, 32 k, 9 bb, 28 h
Matsui: .349/.462/.674, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 5 R
Jeter: .344/.432/.563, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 14 R, CS
Rivera: 5 saves, .56 ERA, 16 ip, 14 k, 5 bb, 10 h
Pettitte: 4-0, 3.52 ERA, 30.2 ip, 25 k, 11 bb, 26 h

Without A-Rod's bat...
We’d need the Angels to make 3x the fielding mistakes they made. He was the most consistent run producer of the ALDS and ALCS, and was no slouch in the WS. He gets my vote.

Not sure if there is even a question
A-Rod was a freaking monster. Multiple clutch hits, big hits, and getting a massive monkey off his back.

No question about it -- Alex = MVP
He was the gorilla in the lineup no one wanted to face. Scary-good in ALDS and ALCS. I know some might consider it a stretch to consider, but the pressure was ALWAYS on him.
He overcame it. Big time. He’s your MVP.

I'm not one to say that Alex didn't have a monster postseason.
But lets not forget about Mo! Look at his stat line! 16 innings with a .56 era for a closer?! That’s just ridiculous. Where would we have been without Mo?
At this point, I truly believe its a tie.
Yankees all day.

I gotta go with Mo. He gets it done so easily he gets overlooked. Alex is a close second because he not only had a monster post-season but, especially in the first two rounds, his hits and homers were incredibly important. But ask yourself this. Is there any scenario you can envision the Yankees even getting to let alone winning the World Series without Mo?

A-rod over Mo
Because for a lot of those games that A-Rod was clutch, without A-Rod, Mo doesn’t pitch or get the save/win.
I agree, Mo is awesome and lights out. But how many actual save situations was he in (1-2 run leads)? How many games did he pitch in where we had a 3+ run lead but Joe didn’t trust the rest of the bullpen?

Which is why I voted for Mo.
He got the job done even without being in save situations. Many closers struggle with that.
